With six players in the French line-up who have played in the Premier League, and four British-based players in the Honduras team, there are plenty of familiar faces on display this evening.

Which French team will turn up? Will they go far, or go out? Can Honduras play, or will they keep it rough and ready?

France were not a happy camp last time out in South Africa.

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra was banned for his part in a player revolt over a row between striker Nicolas Anelka and then coach Raymond Domenech.

New coach Laurent Blanc then suspended all 23 members of the World Cup squad for his first game in charge, a friendly against Norway. It was chaos.

But it seems a much happier ship right now.

  6. The worst French team in history?published at 18:58 British Summer Time 15 June 2014

Last November, France lost the first leg of their World Cup play-off 2-0 to Ukraine.

Chances of reaching Brazil, never mind succeeding there, looked slim and the daily sports newspaper L'Equipe dished out the headline 'Is this the worst French team in history?'

But Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho scored twice as they turned it around in the second leg, and seven months down the road optimism is returning to Les Bleus.

Despite the loss of star man Franck Ribery to injury, there is a feel-good factor around the side after an 8-0 thumping of Jamaica in their last game.

In the last four World Cups, France have either reached the final or gone out in the group stages. What will the class of 2014 serve up?

Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud is expected to start as the focal point in France's three-man attack, flanked by Karim Benzema and Mathieu Valbuena.

Antoine Griezmann and Loic Remy are alternative options, while centre backs Mamadou Sakho, Laurent Koscielny and Raphael Varane are vying for two spots.

The main selection dilemma for Honduras coach Luis Fernando Suarez concerns who will play on the right wing.

Andy Najar, Oscar Boniek Garcia and Marvin Chavez are the contenders.
