Diego Godin is in the 'no-nonsense' camp at centre-half for Uruguay, just blasting the ball out of play as Daniel Sturridge chased down a Wayne Rooney flick-on.
Do England have the tools to unlock this Uruguay defence? The early signs are positive.

Very nervy start from Hart.
Good tempo to the opening exchanges with Steven Gerrard charging into a tackle like a bull in a china shop. Raheem Sterling easily beats one man before he is tackled and Luis Suarez then wins a corner for Uruguay after a neat exchange.

"We thought Wayne Rooney would go back to his normal role tonight, as for Uruguay, they are playing 4-4-2 with Edinson Cavani dropping into the hole, probably doing Rooney's role."
Leighton Baines drives through the middle and tries to find Daniel Sturridge, goalkeeper Fernando Muslera comes out and sweeps it up but then spills it! Sturridge had already turned away and the chance had gone.
