David Harney:, external England are embarrassing, where's the heart and passion? Three lions on the shirt? More like Three kittens.

Andy McNamara:, external Why does this feel like a friendly?! Where is the fight? England have seemingly given up!

mwangikiara:, external Everyone will be on Rooney's case....but how poor is Gerrard, Johnson, Henderson, Sturridge and Welbeck.

"Great composure from Wayne Rooney but the save was just as good."

  3. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:10 British Summer Time 19 June 2014

Great save! That was almost the equaliser, and again it's Wayne Rooney who brings it down and lets fly with his left foot, but Fernando Muslera makes a great block.

    Will he ever score?

"That should have been game over and 2-0. Edinson Cavani will be disappointed not to have hit the target.

"The England back four are all over the shop. Nobody is taking charge and they are looking scared. It's all Uruguay. They will be thinking let's get this goal and kill England off."

    He has to score that!

Edinson Cavani should make it 2-0 as he runs off the back of Glen Johnson to meet a neat throughball, he's one on one with Joe Hart but screws it terribly wide of the far post. A horrible contact and a huge let off for England.

"Who is blocking that in case they do hit it low? Joe Hart gets it away but that is twice Luis Suarez has tried to do Joe Hart at his near post on a corner.

"Not a bright start by England, it's Uruguay again who have taken the initiative. Roy Hodgson will be thinking 'How long until I make the changes?' Because they are looking leggy. They just look flat.

"Confidence is massive in football. The Uruguayans look like they are really enjoying the game, they are in front and the presence of Luis Suarez has brought that confidence to the team."

"England are under the cosh a little. They look a little ragged and haven't settled for the second half.

"That shot wide was very unlike Luis Suarez, he usually composes himself in those areas."

  8. Postpublished at 21:07 British Summer Time 19 June 2014

Chance here! England clear a corner but it ricochets back to Luis Suarez out on the right, he drives on and takes aim but drags the shot well wide. Uruguay look really dangerous right now, England just need 10 minutes to get a foot on the ball.

VB:, external Why do we "give it 10 minutes" to make a change? We've proven in the previous 45 it isn't working!

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:05 British Summer Time 19 June 2014

Well it's no fluke, as Luis Suarez almost scores from a corner again! It's a brilliant inswinger which almost catches Joe Hart out and the keeper has to scramble it away.

A second goal would be curtains.

"Maybe play a diamond in midfield. You have got to change something because at the moment it is just panic. Maybe bring on Adam Lallana, somebody who is good on the ball, rather than panicking and giving it straight back to the Uruguayans."

Joe Pape:, external 4-4-2 beating 4-2-3-1. If we're not playing Rooney as a striker then we should at least play a proper midfielder there.

Lucus:, external England are embarrassed, humiliated and ridiculous. Such poor football.

James Brewin:, external Why isn't Glen Johnson getting criticism he constantly lets attackers put crosses in and is clearly out of depth.

Mark, Norwich: Glenn Johnson has had a very poor game, given the ball away a lot and can't defend.

Kyle: I don't care how fit Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is, get him on for Danny Welbeck! Luis Suarez isn't 100% and scored, why cant the Ox? And get Jack Wilshere on for Jordan Henderson! Not scared to take his man on and has incredible vision!

Frank, Carmunnock: Currently locked out of the house....watching the game through the neighbours window. Fingers crossed they don't shut the blinds!

  18. Alan Shearer Q+Apublished at 20:57 British Summer Time 19 June 2014

    Former England captain Alan Shearer

What were your thoughts on the first half?

"I thought we were poor and created very little. We defended poorly. I don't think Roy Hodgson will be happy at all."

Who would you look to bring on?

"I would look at bringing Ross Barkley on if things don't change quickly just to help with creating chances."

What, if anything, would you change after half-time?

"I would try and get us further up the park and improve our final ball. We have only had one proper shot on target in 45 minutes."

Was Roy Hodgson right to start Rooney ahead of players like Lallana and Barkley?

"I would have started Wayne Rooney and started him in that position. He has hardly been on the ball. He has one decent chance and he should have scored. Luis Suarez's header was a much tougher chance than Rooney's header. He has to do more and the team has to do more."

2Chainz:, external This is what you get when you put Rooney in the middle, not tracking back and certainly not in the game

Lee Randell:, external Bring on Adam Lallana, he changes the game he should have started.

Lee Spencer:, external Club before country certainly shows tonight, Gerrard had two chances to tackle Suarez before he scored and bottled both of them.
