Max Welford:, external England desperately need to BUILD a team with a designated chemistry, lead by specific players. Sterling and Barkley=the players.

Mike Stoddart:, external They're highly paid professionals; no excuses about not having played together. If they can't do the basics, shouldn't be here.

We have got a Mexican Wave in Belo Horizonte. As Phil Neville says, "you can't buy atmospheres like this."

If you could I would get a few in, keep them in the loft for Christmas, birthdays, when the mother-in-law comes to stay, that sort of thing.

"Individual brilliance from Daniel Sturridge. An instinctive shot with his left foot. So far I am not quite sure what style of play England are playing though. It is not counter-attack, it is not high tempo it is not pass pass. I want to see more definition in the style."

Daniel Sturridge! Great effort, curled first-time from 20 yards, past goalkeeper Keylor Navas but just past the post!

A really good hit from the Liverpool man and England's brightest moment.

Craig Jeavons on Facebook:, external Dear England team, right now you are like an annoying little brother, and I really don't want to go to go and watch you in the play tonight. However..I will go, because your my brother, and I might even clap at the end if you are any good. YNWA.

Frank Lampard loses the ball on the edge of the box and Costa Rica counter at real pace, Joel Campbell skinning Luke Shaw and finding Randall Brenes on the burst - but he's just offside.

England seeing all of the ball now but Costa Rica possess a real threat on the break.

Adam Lallana is dumped on his backside off the ball as Costa Rica start to rough it up a bit, but referee Djamel Haimoudi is not interested. Good movement from Lallana though, he nipped in behind.

"It is too easy for Costa Rica at the moment. England have to get tighter, you have to get closer to the man with the ball. Two or three yards is not close enough."

That'll do! England's other centre-half Gary Cahill smashes a clearance out of play under no real pressure. Not the best lads...

England now keeping the ball well after that nervous start - until Chris Smalling hooks it out of play on the full. Really poor distribution from the Manchester United man.

After years of feast, it's famine time for England centre-halves. Who would be next in line after these two? Curtis Davies?

    Steve Bruce...?
