How is that not 2-0? First German sub Christoph Kramer has a shot blocked before Thomas Muller skips around goalkeeper Rais Mbolhi but can't find a white shirt in the goalmouth.

NrzNima:, external Only experience can come to Germany's aid. In every other aspect Algeria are head and shoulders above. It's a shame. France v Algeria could have been a historic match.
Both coaches have their heads in their hands. Germany look pretty comfortable but you never know.
Six minutes remain...
The Germany fans are in fine voice now, saluting their side as they play it out. They are not quite home yet though, as Per Mertesacker has to make a brave header to clear a cross.

"At this stage of the game when you're losing and tired, you come to life when you get the ball. But the problem is when you don't have the ball - your mind goes and your legs become heavier."
Algeria have a bright attack down the left but they are halted by an offside flag. That's poor.
The rain is sheeting down now and we have just over 10 minutes to go.
Bastian Schweinsteiger is not right, he's pulled something and has to come off. Monchengladbach midfielder Christoph Kramer is on in his place.
Fifa World Cup:, external Andre Schurrle is the first Germany No9 to score at the World Cup since Carsten Jancker in 2002.
Lucas: Think it's fair to say that Algeria are the much more improved of the two sides who played out that drab 0-0 in 2010.
Raj, Wolverhampton: Algeria won't win the World Cup. Costa Rica probably won't win. Chile are out. But those teams have certainly made the World Cup. Algeria, win or lose, have taken a three-time winner to extra time. Well done to them!
Philipp Lahm is booked for a cynical foul as Algeria make a fast start. Lahm pulled Yacine Brahimi's shorts down in fact.

"Sami Khedira is the man who has changed the game for Germany. Since he came on, Germany have had more life and more tempo. Algeria can't get near him because his fitness levels are good.
"For the goal Schurrle stuck his leg out and was hoping to get something on it. I don't think he meant what he did, just pushed his leg back, tried to get contact, comes off his instep and goes into the bottom corner."
Back under way then. Can Algeria prevent the inevitable?
Gerrardo:, external All of us Mexicans envy Algeria for not conceding till the 92nd minute, and not at 90+3'... They have got time enough.
Miroslav Klose has his tracksuit on, his bib on, his slippers on. He has the look of a man who is not coming on at all for Germany.
BBC Sport's David Ornstein at Estadio Beira-Rio
"Those Germany supporters who made it back to their seats in time for Andre Schurrle's goal - the food, drink and toilet queues are one of the less impressive features of this ground - look mightily relieved. Algeria's fans have been silenced; their side have time to get back into this, but Mostefa's miss was poor, they won't get too many more chances and they're looking tired."
Half-time in extra time then. Germany 15 minutes away from a quarter-final with France.
Guy Mowbray
BBC Match of the Day commentator
"The substitution Germany made to bring Andre Schurrle on at half-time changed the game. Germany have just looked a whole lot more full of life thanks to him."
German corner, with not a single white shirt in the box. They work it nicely though, Sami Khedira skipping away from a tired challenge to get free - but his cross is behind Andre Schurrle.

"Mostefa just lashed at it. It needed some control, although he knew he had to act quickly. He sees a little gap, is surrounded by German defenders, but just drags it wide. What a chance."
