"The USA players are absolutely exhausted, while the Belgium players have got a spring in their step. I wouldn't be surprised if they score more. The sadness for USA now is that they don't really have a plan B."
Belgium v Argentina in Brasilia next Saturday. That's pencilled in unless the United States can somehow find some attacking verve.
You're in! Romelu Lukaku sends Jan Vertonghen away, he has all the time in the world and takes it all, ending up coming in on to his right foot and wasting the chance to book the Americans' flight home.
Lukaku is tearing it up.

"Kevin de Bruyne scores and half the Belgium team and all of the substitutes are celebrating on the pitch, and the backroom staff.
"USA have showed incredible heart in this competition so far. At this World Cup nothing surprises you, but it is a massive ask to come back from this."
Former England international Danny Murphy

"USA will have to show real character and strength of mind now."
Last night Germany hit the early goal in extra time to finally put Algeria away and it's been a similar pattern to this game. United States playing the part of plucky superpower.
Great celebration from Marc Wilmots by the way, the Belgian coach on the field and halfway to the goal before wisely coming back to the dugout.

"It was that man Romelu Lukaku causing the problems with his strength, power, freshness and USA could not cope with it.
"Kevin De Bruyne took a touch and it was a very composed finish from a talented young player."
It's in there! Ninety-two minutes of pressure and United States finally crack. Tremendous strength and pace from Romelu Lukaku down the right, his cut-back is not the best but Kevin De Bruyne is able to sort his feet out and fire low into the far corner. Tim Howard finally beaten. Are his nation?
First chance of extra-time falls for United States midfielder Jermaine Jones, but he heads it over.

"How on Earth is this still 0-0? It was attack after attack from Belgium but the most important thing that has let them down is their finishing. They have gone into the final third every time they have gone forward.
"But for USA it shows what you can do with 13 or 14 committed players when they are giving everything they can for the shirt and for their country.
"That performance from USA was everything that says 'we want to stay in this competition, we believe in our manager'. I expect Belgium to have the majority of the play in this 30 minutes, but can they have the final touch?"
Former Ireland international Kevin Kilbane

"Tim Howard has once again proved what a good goalkeeper he is. Overall at the World Cup the standard of goalkeeping has been very high, and Howard has only added to that."
Extra-time then. Here we go...
Belgium make a switch, Romelu Lukaku on in place of Divock Origi. Not what a US centre-half wants to see..

"The Belgium manager Marc Wilmots will say the simple words: 'Go again.' But Jurgen Kilnsmann must be looking around wondering which of his USA players have got any legs left, and who can take a penalty. Everyone knows USA's best chance of winning is to take it to penalties."
BBC Sport's Ben Smith in Salvador
"And so we go to the afters and the question now is how will the USA hold on for another 30 minutes? The US players are down on the ground having legs massaged, being geed up by their team-mates.
"The Belgium players look fresher, stronger but if this World Cup has taught us anything, it is that just when you think you know what is going to happen, it all goes out the window."
Tim Howard could have saved Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. What a performance...
the last three games have all been goalless at 90 minutes. Nil-nil is the new black. Very much on trend.

"Chris Wondolowski was miles onside. If he had scored there and the linesman's flag was raised then that would have been an absolute disaster for this competition.
"I loved every second of that and am delighted we will have another 30 minutes."
