What an incredible day. Hibs boss Terry Butcher began by urging his side against complacency and it ends with angry supporters outside Easter Road demanding changes following relegation to the Championship.

Hamilton Accies player-manager Alex Neil asked his players to emulate Liverpool's 2005 Champions League final win in Istanbul. They responded with a measured, determined and impressive display to come back from 2-0 down on aggregate and win a penalty shootout to secure a place in the top flight.

In a storyline straight out of the Roy of the Rovers scrapbook, Neil said his side were worthy winners and always believed they could overturn the first-leg deficit.

Butcher has vowed to continue in the job despite relegation. However, he described events at Easter Road as his "darkest day in football".

Thanks for your company today. Congratulations to Hamilton and commiserations to Hibs. We'll have highlights of today's pulsating encounter on our website later and there's highlights on BBC Two Scotland at 22:00 BST.

    Cheers.

Hamilton defender Ziggy Gordon: "It's a day I'll never forget. I'll run my heart out in every single game and it's great to get reward for it.

"It's really special for me. I've been here for 11 years since I was a 10-year-old. All the hard work shows today: you work hard and you get the rewards, end of!

"I owe everything to the club, wherever I end up. I'm lost for words really..."

Nathan, Hamilton: "Absolutely over the moon. Best team won. The stronger team will play in the SPL next season. I can't see Hibs challenging next season."

"It was like watching a car crash today. I can't point to bad luck because it's more than bad luck when you get relegated. I felt we had a chance when it went to penalties but when you miss the first one...

"We've had opportunities but haven't taken them and we deserve to be there (the Championship).

"Whether I continue in the job is up to other people but I want to continue. I'm extremely angry but I'll take the responsibility because we've had time to put it right.

"I must give Hamilton full credit, they can certainly play and they did today. It's my darkest day in football."

    BBC Sportsound pundit Billy Dodds

"Where do you start with Hibs? Back a few months when you saw them on that slippery slope? Hamilton were sensational and continued to play. They looked stronger, fitter and got tired in extra time. But they continued to play and thoroughly deserve to go into the Premiership: nothing short of sensational. This was Hamilton's day..."

Anonymous: "Championship is the place to be next season. One out of possibly six to go up, with one possible after that. Hope Hibs have Terry on a long contract. Superb."

Stevie, Edinburgh: "Will anybody be watching the SPFL next season? Average crowd will be 4,000!"

Marc, Glasgow: "I'm overjoyed that Hibs have been relegated. They've brought nothing to the Scottish game and they got what they deserved today. Good riddance. Congratulations to the Accies who must have been privately seething that so many pundits wrote them off after the first leg. Stirring stuff."

I wonder what Terry Butcher will make of this?
