Owain Tudor Jones flashes his penalty home...
Mikael Antoine Curier scores! Accies have the advantage...
Liam Craig fires home with aplomb!
Tony Andreu scores his penalty, sending Ben Williams the wrong way!
Ryan McGivern scores for Hibs!
Grant Gillespie scores beyond Ben Williams!
Kevin Cuthbert saves Kevin Thomson's penalty!
Hibs chairman Rod Petrie sports a pained grin as he surveys the action from the stand. The sun is shining over Easter Road as the goalkeepers shake hands and make their way towards goal...
Both sets of players and their respective coaching staff embrace in huddle on the pitch as they talk tactics and sort out who's brave enough to step forward and take a penalty...
We are heading for penalties people! Stand by your beds...
Pablo D77W Dillon : "Re: 17:50, it was England v West Germany!!"
Spot on Pablo!
Marc Nyman: "Would rather see Hibs go down attacking than on penalties. Push forward!"
Much better from Hibs as Scott Robertson bursts forward to leave Alex Neil in his wake but his cutback fails to find a green jersey. The clock continues to wind down... Two minutes of extra time remaining before we start fumbling for the heart pills!
Hamilton players are dropping to the turf as they suffer the effects of cramp; it's looking like a makeshift military field hospital as a quick burst of treatment is administered before the troops head back into battle.
Robbie Devenney: "I believe Hibs have never lost a penalty shoot out against another Scottish team. First time for everything #depressed #bbcsportscot"
Another high ball from Hibs in the direction of the Accies box. The ball breaks to Kevin Thomson and he tries to thread it through the eye of a needle and it trundles out for a goal kick. Hibs boss Terry Butcher ruffles his wet hair in frustration as Thomson holds up his hand in apology...
At the risk of upsetting Hibs fans, it's difficult to see where a goal's going to come from. Hamilton have dealt comfortably with the sporadic attacks and aerial assaults on Kevin Cuthbert's goal. It's Accies who look the likelier to score... We have seven minutes remaining of extra time. Are we destined for a penalty shoot-out?
This could get all very Italia 90 and England v Germany...
Martin Burke: "if jobs go down will there be calls for immediate reform and an 18 team league?"
David Nicol: "No need for the Sunday roast, Hibs are making a right meal out of this....."
Any dough balls out there?
Liam Craig whips in a menacing corner and Ryan McGivern connects cleanly but his shot is blocked on the six yard box and Hamilton scramble it clear.
Play rages up the other end and Andy Ryan has a chance to get a shot away but dithers and the Hibs rearguard recover sufficiently to snuff out the danger.
I'm almost standing up to write at my keyboard such is the excitement; like Jerry Lee Lewis at the piano for Great Balls of Fire...
We're back under way at Easter Road. Will there be a winner or are we destined for a penalty shoot-out?
The end of the first period of extra time is met by a smattering of boos from the Hibs fans; a rainbow above Easter Road signals a relenting in the driving rain but will it help or hinder Hibs?
