Back to the top sports news story of the day. If the reported fee of £75m is confirmed, Luis Suarez's move from Liverpool to Barcelona will be the third biggest in football history.

Only Gareth Bale's £86m move from Tottenham to Real Madrid in 2013 and Cristiano Ronaldo's £80m switch to Real Madrid from Manchester United are more valuable.

Luis Suarez scored 31 goals for Liverpool in his final campaign with the club, despite missing the start of the season through suspension.

His tally, along with 12 assists, meant he contributed to 43 goals, more than any player in Europe's top five leagues.

He notched 82 goals in 133 appearances in all after joining from Ajax in the January transfer window of 2011.

Luis Suarez was sent off on his international debut for Uruguay in 2007 and controversy has often followed Barcelona's latest recruit all the way through to his latest ban for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini.

In 2010, he received a seven-match ban for biting while playing for Ajax, just months after being sent off for deliberate handball at the World Cup when he denied Ghana a last-minute winner.

At Liverpool, alleged racist abuse of Manchester United's Patrice Evra earned him an eight-match ban in 2011 and another bite, this time on Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic, saw Suarez sidelined for 10 games in 2013.
