More from Jose Mourinho on the fitness - or lack of - of Diego Costa.

Mourinho said: "He went to the national team and after the game against France he came back to us injured.

"He came to us (from Atletico) and he was completely fine. He had a problem again in the national team, not with us.

"Now we have the problem and now we have to resolve the problem the best we can.

"Today he was not in condition to play. Sunday we believe he is.

"Next week against Bolton (in the Capital One Cup) for sure he isn't. We have to manage the situation until the moment he's completely fine.

"If today he starts the game, for sure he cannot play on Sunday. We have to go step by step."

Fulham boss Felix Magath tells 5 live this season has been "A catastrophe…. But I have no doubt we will get up in the table. It's not good enough for Fulham.

"I am in contact with the owner and we talk every week and I speak with him and I agree with him. The only thing is I am very sad for the supporters…"

Karl Bowers:, external Chelsea lost at home to Basel in the 1st UCL game last season & still made it to the Semi Finals; it's a marathon not a sprint

Yousuf Ali, external: I agree Costa needs a rest but José could have started Remi. Anyway lessons learned. On to the next one.

Sham Gallagher:, external That's a poor game from CFC especially being home and that impressive win on Saturday. Thought Schalke deserved the draw.

Darius Ikyanyon: , externalIf anything, this game should send a message to Mourinho that Drogba is no longer the striker to rely on.

    Jose MourinhoImage source, Reuters

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, speaking to Sky Sports: "We had more than a couple of fantastic chances to win the game but we got a point. It is not the best result but it is a result.

"In the second half they scored, we had a good reaction and I have nothing to complain about with my players. Of course he [Didier Drogba] did his job, he had a good game and a good contribution. He missed the goal by a few inches and that would have been 2-0 but football is like this. Didier Drogba is not crying because of that miss.

"Diego Costa is not in condition to play three matches in a week. He has problems when he plays one game, he needs a week to recover and now playing matches Tuesday and Wednesday he can't do it. He was not in a condition to do more than he did."

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart on Sky Sports: "We fought hard all night against a good team you know what you get when you come.

"A here nasty deflection at the end has done us and Jerome Boateng comes back to haunt us. It would have been well deserved draw, we made them work hard for everything. I tend to be busy against German teams.

"We can match Bayern Munich, we have some very tough games now and we have to play well against CSKA and Roma now. We're confident we can win the rest of our games.

"Roma won 5-1? Wow. As long as Ashley Cole didn't get one..."

On Yaya Toure's performance: "I thought he was really disappointing tonight. I know he didn't play at the weekend because he was back late from international duty and I don't know if there was discipline problem there but that was not the Yaya Toure we are used to seeing. He was not happy and his body language did not look right."
