Fancy feet from Willian as he beats his man on the outside, fizzes the ball across and it's a tap-in for Didier Drogba - but he misses the ball altogether. Fine ball in...

"City have to be more aggressive in the tackle and they have to play higher up the field. Substitutions are going to be key, Robben for Bayern and Aguero for City and whoever comes on first could win the game for their side."

You're quite right Peter. Forest won two European Cups under Brian Clough, and it is 10 years this week since the great man died. Stand by for a fine article from 5 Live's Pat Murphy on Saturday. Well worth a read.

Russell Higginbotham:, external A sense of maturity about Man City this year. They may yet lose this game, but they look more at home in the Champions League

Andy Knowles:, external Will take that first half City. Lucky not to have conceded a few but good saves by Joe. Chances on break if they play out better.

Peter Savage:, external Just to point out to #bbcfootball that of all the English teams in action tonight Forest have had the most European success

Ben in Manchester, via text: Every year Yaya Toure gets worse and worse defensively. He's almost a liability in the big games.

OJ in Stockport, via text: Both Bayern and City are littered with class and it's never been more obvious than tonight; the speed of passing and the absolute control players from both sides are displaying is fantastic. City really look like they might really assert themselves in Europe this season.

No sprites had to die in that first half then. All is well.

Once City bring Sergio Aguero on, how will that impact on their play? James Milner cracked in the winner in Munich last season, he is another option.

There have been six goals already in the Championship with both games 2-1 at the break. Ben Marshall gave Blackburn the lead at home to Derby with less than a minute on the clock but goals from Jamie Ward and Will Hughes mean Steve McClaren's side go in 2-1 at the break.

At the City Ground Britt Assombalonga scored twice in 21 minutes to give Nottingham Forest a 2-0 lead over Fulham before £11m striker Ross McCormack pulled a goal back for Felix Magath's side, who are still looking for their first league win of the season.

It's going to be a long, long journey home for the players of CSKA Moscow unless they can produce an incredible fightback in Rome. Roma, who have former Chelsea and England defender Ashley Cole on the the substitutes' bench, lead 4-0 at the interval. Ex-Arsenal man Gervinho has two of them while Juan Iturbe and Maicon have also netted.

Barcelona lead Apoel Nicosia, the champions of Cyprus, 1-0 thanks to a header by Gerard Pique, while Porto boast a handsome 3-0 advantage against Belarus champions Bate Borisov.

No goals for Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Amsterdam so far but Paris St-Germain do lead Ajax 1-0 thanks to Edinson Cavani's effort.

"City will be delighted to get in here goalless at half time. Joe Hart has been by far the standout player in the first half for both sides and he has been outstanding.

"But when City have attacked they have done so with pace and could get a breakthrough."

So in our imaginary three-way Bundesliga v Premier League competition, it's 2-1 to the Germans after that Cesc Fabregas goal for Chelsea.

Can City get in on the act?

All square at the Allianz. My half-time prediction is that Edin Dzeko will not be re-appearing. His back is giving him some gyp.

Schalke manager Jens Keller, and me, think that Julian Draxler has put Schalke level. And he really should have done to be honest.

It's poor play from Gary Cahill, who backs off and backs off, allowing the pacy number 10 to burst into the penalty area but when he gets the shot away he puts it wide of the far post. Big, big chance...

Edin Dzeko is back on after a touch of treatment, but all is not well with the Bosnian. He's holding his back but it looked like it was his knee which jarred in the turf.

All go. Bacary Sagna nods on a City corner to force Manuel Neuer into a save, Bayern look to break away and Edin Dzeko does the necessary, stopping the attack with a sliding tackle on Mario Gotze. He's booked, and he's hurt too.

He got the ball actually, on second viewing.
