Rian Hoskins:, external The Premier League may take priority initially but if Chelsea build up a big lead, they have depth to win both competitions.

A Premier League/Champions League double? That would be quite something.

Francesco Totti starts tonight as well, at the apex of a front three. The ultimate false nine. On-loan Newcastle defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa can't believe his luck as he starts.

He's not quite old enough to remember the Roman invasion of Britain, but he's not far off.

Like Manchester United without Ryan Giggs, or Internazionale without Javier Zanetti, it's hard to imagine Roma without Francesco Totti. The talisman was 38 earlier this week and has 15 goals in 51 Champions League appearances.

What a fine pair of curtains he sported back in 1996 too.

BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty at Etihad Stadium

"Joe Hart is out and warming up at the Etihad, restored to the starting line-up after being rested for Willy Caballero for their last two games by manager Manuel Pellegrini.

"The England keeper was outstanding in the defeat away to Bayern Munich and will be a vital figure again tonight as City try to get their Champions League group campaign going."

Diego Costa started a lot of games for Atletico Madrid in the run-in at the end of last season when he was clearly not fit, including the Champions League final. If his hamstring goes ping tonight it would be a real blow. Especially as Didier Drogba is currently injured.

On Jose Mourinho's Diego Costa gamble: "He could have left him out in the last group game against Schalke, but he wants to play him because he is in form.

"He feels he can make more of an impact starting games than coming off the bench.

"Costa is presumably pushing to start games as well."

BBC Sport's Chris Osborne at Watford v Brentford: "Oscar Garcia's decision to step down this week and Billy McKinlay's immediate appointment leaves Watford with their third manager in 30 days.

"You'd expect that to be the tale of a side suffering at the bottom of the table - but the Hornets were second when Beppe Sannino quit on 31 August, more because of a failing relationship with players than anything else.

"And Garcia's departure was purely motivated by his desire to concentrate on recovering from the chest pains that put him in hospital for a week. Former Blackburn and Scotland midfielder McKinlay starts life as a manager with the visit of a Brentford side slowly finding their way in the Championship - they sit 12th in the table."

You can stop tweeting in about Colin Kazim-Richards now - he played for Turkey. He's a Turkey international. He's Turkish. He has not been missed off the list of Englishman to play in the Champions League for a foreign side.

Oh, and Paul Lambert is definitely 100% Scottish! I dare any one of you who suggested him to tell him he's English...

Ashley Cole says Manchester City will be under pressure tonight after losing their opener in Munich.

"There's a lot of pressure on City," Cole said. "They have big players and are hungry to win the Champions League.

"We are probably the underdogs but we will give it everything and will give them a tough game.

"If we win it will make it more difficult for them to catch up and will probably make us top of the group and put us in good stead for qualifying," said the 33-year-old.

"You see that Chelsea side that's up against Sporting and you would think they have got far too much for them to cope with in the attacking department.

"But, Mourinho's paid a lot of money for Loic Remy and leaving him out shows he's not entirely happy with him yet."

Graeme Souness has done wonders for the list of Englishmen to have played for foreign sides in the Champions League - he brought three of the 11 to Benfica.

    Owen Hargreaves (Bayern Munich)

    Steve McManaman (Real Madrid)

David Beckham (Real Madrid, AC Milan, Paris St-Germain)

    Michael Thomas (Benfica)

    Scott Minto (Benfica)

    Brian Deane (Benfica)

    Michael Owen (Real Madrid)

    Jonathan Woodgate (Real Madrid)

    Matt Derbyshire (Olympiakos)

    Joe Cole (Lille)

    Ashley Cole (Roma)

Hats off to anyone who said Matt Derbyshire. Even Matt Derbyshire had forgotten that Matt Derbyshire played for Olympiakos.
