Aside from Manchester City and Chelsea in action this evening, there are six other Champions League ties.

Bayern Munich and Roma go head-to-head in the other match in City's group at the Stadio Olimpico.

It's two wins from two so far for Bayern, while Rudi Garcia's Roma will be looking to claim top spot in Group E with a home win.

The other match in Chelsea's group sees Sporting travel to Schalke - managed by Roberto Di Matteo - a man who knows a thing or two about lifting the Champions League as a manager.

Right, that's one dig each now in the interests of fairness. Let's leave the Manchester rivalry to one side from now on. Save it for derby day.

Back on the pitch City have impressed so far tonight. One more goal and any slight fears their fans may have will disappear.

Keith in Manchester: Mark in Derbyshire is right. City are used to this kind of atmosphere. In the last champions league game against Roma, for example, the stadium was full of empty blue seats and a silent crowd!

  5. 'City looking comfortable'published at 17:51 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

    Alistair Bruce-Ball
BBC Radio 5 live at the Khimki Arena

"City have coped very well with the surreal atmosphere.

"After a couple of early scares, two goals came in quick succession.

"It was almost three as well, except for the woodwork. City looking comfortable at half time."

Tonight's later fixtures include Chelsea's home clash with Maribor of Slovenia.

Anything other than a stately walk in the park for Jose Mourinho's boys, and I'll be amazed.*

The Blues have regularly looked the business this season, home and away, and must be contenders for a Premier League/Champions League double.

Or will they miss Diego Costa too much tonight and come unstuck? After all, they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Schalke in September.

*Management reserve the right to be amazed at all times.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

Aleksandar Kolarov almost finds Sergio Aguero for a third - and there's the half-time whistle. James Milner is fuming about that penalty shout he had turned down, in referee Istvan Vad's ear as they come off the field.

    Now, now Mark...

Manchester City had a dodgy spell just before they opened the scoring but this is looking very comfortable now. As comfortable as you can get in the snow in Moscow, anyway.

Mark in Derbyshire: Man City are well used to this kind of atmosphere - they play at Old Trafford at least once a year.

  10. Postpublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

James Milner was also taken out after he hit the post there - two penalty shouts and a woodwork in one move!

The snow is falling now inside the Khimki Arena, and Manchester City are threatening an avalanche.

  11. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

    Penalty?! No! Goal? No!

Aleksandar Kolarov flashes a shot in from 30 yards out, Edin Dzeko tries to steer it in but appeared to be clipped. And then James Milner does make contact behind him - but drives against the post!

    Should be 3-0.

"A really well worked goal for City.

"A lovely diagonal ball from Toure, headed down by Zabaleta.

"Aguero squared it and Milner slid in from five yards out."

The same pass we saw earlier on as Yaya Toure floats one onto Pablo Zabaleta's head, he nods down for Sergio Aguero and while for once his shot is off target, it runs into the path of a sliding James Milner, who prods in from a yard out. That could well be that.

  14. GREAT SAVE!published at 17:37 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

City guilty of trying to score the perfect goal as they pop a few slick passes together on the corner of the box, David Silva bursts past one man but is then held up as he tries to engineer the space for a shot.

Edin Dzeko is more direct moments later, holding off his defender and then forcing Igor Akinfeev into a flying save to his left. Good hit!

Tom in Ormskirk: Aguero silences the crowd

  16. Postpublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

If it was possible to quieten the crowd in a behind closed doors game, I think City have. Those noisy delegates have piped down.

  17. Simple finish for Agueropublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

    Alistair Bruce-Ball
BBC Radio 5 live at the Khimki Arena

"That could be a really important goal for City in the context of this Champions League campaign.

"The easiest of strikes for Aguero.

"Dzeko went through one-on-one and rather unselfishly squared it for Aguero to put in to the open goal."

It had to be! Sergio Aguero breaks the deadlock as Manchester City pick apart a fragile offside trap. David Silva plays a peach of a pass into the run of Edin Dzeko - onside - who runs in on goal, commits goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev and then squares it to Aguero for a tap-in.

The sort of goal you've scored on your console a hundred times. You can't stop them...

  19. 'A surreal experience'published at 17:28 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

    Alistair Bruce-Ball
BBC Radio 5 live at the Khimki Arena

"There's about 650 people in here tonight.

"Club delegates, ball boys, their parents, 150 media and Uefa partners, which are around 300.

"Maybe some fans have paid for those tickets and got themselves in to the ground.

"It's just weird as you can hear the thud of boot on ball, you can hear the shouts from the players and managers.

    "It's a surreal experience."

  20. Postpublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

This game is about to come under threat for our attention by the spectacle of some commuters tackling the tail-end of a hurricane as it whips across Salford Quays.

It's a threat that it is about to lose, to be frank. Not the most exciting affair in Moscow so far.
