'One more!' is the shout in our office as CSKA put together a slick move from right to left, but Georgi Milanov decides to shoot instead of sliding in Zoran Tosic. Vincent Kompany makes the block and then fellow centre-half Eliaquim Mangala motors over to tackle Ahmed Musa.

Top defending, but worrying signs for Manuel Pellegrini. At least he's got plenty of good rugs for company.

Sergio Aguero almost nicks the ball at the back as he pounces on an underdone backpass but Sergei Ignashevich just about hooks it clear. As well as bagging four at the weekend, Sergio has got four in two games against CSKA. Not much action for the powerhouse so far though.

Just as Richard says that David Silva flicks a gem of a first-time pass into the run of Yaya Toure, who looks a lot more mobile and interested so far this evening.

City bossing this, having 66% of play so far, but can they knock the door down? They go for the direct route this time, Aleksandar Kolarov whipping in a nearly cross but Edin Dzeko heads over.

Moments later Yaya Toure finds a way over the defence with a chip into the run of Pablo Zabaleta, who hammers wide. Not very far wide either - great pass from the big man.

  7. CLOSE!published at 17:12 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

Sergio Aguero into the pocket outside the box, can he get a shot away? The backheeled pass instead, it's lovely too into the feet of David Silva, but his cut-back is just cut out.

CSKA instantly break, Zoran Tosic cuts onto his left foot and hammers in a shot just past Joe Hart's top corner! That's two fine strikes from the men in red and blue. Very much shoot-on-sight stuff.

You can see the players' breath in the sky as they run. Like a scene from Metal Gear Solid.

First shot of the night and it's a cracker, CSKA forward Ahmed Musa rifling a drive over the top from 25 yards. He got hold of that one!

  9. Postpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 21 October 2014

Yaya Toure and Fernando link up nicely to free James Milner but he just takes it a touch too far. CSKA break - and there is a noisy roar from the stands too. Is that the ball boys? - but the cross comes to nothing.

Some chanting from the stands! I thought there were no fans in? Those club delegates must be Ultras...

It's not often you can hear every word a manager says on the sidelines, but Leonid Slutski is broadcasting to the world as he rants at his players from the bench. Unfortunately my Russian is non-existent - get colleague Patrick Jennings on the phone and he can translate as we go.

City having all of the ball in the early minutes.

A bizarre Champions League anthem played out in the silence of the Muscovite evening. Some of the pundits have suggested that City will find it hard to adapt to this 'non-atmosphere' - is it an issue? Surely it's an advantage to the visitors?

The two sides merge for a photo in front of a giant 'Say no to Racism' banner.

Here we go then. Some very cold-looking children are ready to lead the sides out. Let's get the ball rolling!

Don't forget that we are asking what are the greatest lengths you have gone to to watch that game that you just couldn't miss?

City striker Sergio Aguero was compared to musical genius Mozart at the weekend, as he scored four times - and missed a penalty - in the win over Spurs.

"When Aguero plays, it's like classical music. He's unbelievable, the best striker in the world," said Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

"I think seriously, like Mozart. Mozart is positive and Beethoven is a little more crazy."

You didn't get those sort of analogies when Harry Redknapp was at the Lane, did you?

Anyway, in the land of Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky can City's Argentine genius continue to call the tune tonight?
