Kick-off at a feverish Celtic Park is just over an hour away.

If you are under any illusions just how big a game this is, BBC Sport asked some of Scottish football's biggest names.

"Scotland-England is always a game that every Scotland fan wants to win," says Gordon McQueen.

Former Scotland striker Peter Lorimer said: "The game lasted about two minutes before war broke out. We were playing as if there were 130,000 at the game. It just showed the passion."

Andrew: Scotland are the better team unit, England have the better individual players. Both sides will be really up for tonight's match, and the atmosphere inside Celtic Park will be spine-tingling. Looking forward to a closely contested, feisty game.

    World champions?

Jim McCalliog was the hero as Scotland pulled off a famous win at Wembley in 1967. Just a year after Bobby Moore, Gordon Banks and co had been crowned as World Champions on the same turf, Bobby Brown's Scotland side won 3-2 with goals from McCalliog, Bobby Lennox and Denis Law.

McCalliog has dined out on the story ever since. He said in 2007: "As you get older, you might not remember what you had for your breakfast but events in the past remain crystal clear and I remember that day as if it was yesterday."

Ikechi Anya at right-back? That's the sort of maverick tinkering that will see you go far Simon. Jordan Henderson getting the nod in all three of those sides is interesting. He's been a long way short of his best form this season.

BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty at Celtic Park

"Scotland completed what was the main business of this international break with victory against the Republic of Ireland in a Euro 2016 here at Celtic Park on Friday - but a meeting with England in Glasgow is hardly an after-thought.

"The Scots will regard this as the perfect opportunity to confirm the growing optimism under manager Gordon Strachan at the expense of their fiercest rivals. The fact that it was before the turn of the century when England were last north of the border has only increased the sense of anticipation around the city since the job was successfully completed against the Republic."

  13. FA Cup feverpublished at 18:35 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2014

Weston-Super-Mare have avoided any international call-ups this week, which is just as well - because they are in action tonight when they take on Doncaster Rovers in the first round of the FA Cup. That game is one of two ties which were postponed just over a week ago... Mansfield v Concord Rangers being the other.

There are also seven replays to get through tonight - with non-league Southport hosting League Two Dagenham and Redbridge in one of the best-looking ties of the night.

There will be a dedicated live text on all of that, kicking off at 19:00 GMT.

After a narrow defeat in a rip-roaring Euro 2016 qualifier against Scotland at Celtic Park on Friday, the Republic of Ireland are looking to return to winning ways against the United States in Dublin tonight.

Derby full-back Cyrus Christie and Ipswich striker David McGoldrick will make their Republic of Ireland debuts as boss Martin O'Neill says he will field a much-changed team.

The USA lost 2-1 to Colombia in London on Friday, a third game without a win since the summer's World Cup following draws with Ecuador and Honduras.

International friendlies have a habit of being as watchable as a double bill of Last of the Summer Wine but tonight should buck the trend. Hopefully.

If Scotland play at the tempo and intensity they managed against the Republic of Ireland on Friday, then England could be in real trouble. Particularly if Roy Hodgson's men play at the speed they managed for the majority of their game on Saturday.

But if you were picking a combined England/Scotland XI, who would be in? Assuming everyone is fit and available.

Joe Hart or David Marshall? Or Fraser Forster?

    Rooney and Naismith up front?

BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty at Celtic Park

"England are back in Glasgow for the first time since 1999, when a Paul Scholes double gave them victory in a Euro 2000 qualifying play-off.

"This may be a friendly but the atmosphere around Celtic Park ahead of kick-off shows the relish of Scotland and their fans at welcoming back the "Auld Enemy" - with a bagpiper stationed at the main entrance of the stadium close to the statues of European Cup-winning manager Jock Stein and the legendary Celtic and Scotland winger Jimmy Johnstone.

"England manager Roy Hodgson was keen not to portray this as anything over and above the normal international friendly. You suspect he may have to change at just before 8pm this evening."
