Gordon Strachan may be up for the fight, but England manager Roy Hodgson says it will not descend into a physical battle this evening.

Strachan described his side's 1-0 win over Republic of Ireland in a Euro 2016 qualifier as "like a heavyweight boxing match". England's 3-1 win over Slovenia was more of a tiddlywinks clash.

Hodgson said: "It will be competitive and hard fought. Each challenge will be well competed.

"But it won't be especially physical. Scotland aren't that type of team.

"I am hoping it will be a competitive game between two football teams. Scotland set their stall out to play football like we do."

    Hmmmmmmmmm.......

Scotland manager Gordon Strachan revealed his players are desperate to be involved in tonight's friendly with England at Celtic Park.

In the wake of the Scots' crucial 1-0 Euro 2016 qualifying win over Ireland, on Friday, Strachan felt the intensity levels might drop among his players.

But he said: "They went into the game we put on in training and it was as intense as the first day at pre-season.

"I've got so many players wanting to play.

"Most of the coaches thought, the day before the game, they would take their foot off the pedal, but no.

"There are one or two bumps this morning but it didn't affect anyone. It was kind of old-fashioned - just rub it and get on with it."

That's what you want to hear...

After a 14-year wait for a Scotland v England clash, tonight is the second meeting in 12 months between the two sides.

Last August Rickie Lambert stepped off the bench to head the winner with his first touch in international football. But Scotland had England rocking at Wembley.

They had Celtic Park, Glasgow city centre, and the whole of Scotland rocking on Friday night with a vibrant and determined display in a 1-0 win against the Republic of Ireland.

Will it be the same story tonight?

One hundred and eleven times Scotland have faced England, and 142 years after the first meeting - a dour 0-0 draw at cricket ground Hamilton Crescent - the sides face off again.

Scotland may not have Kenny Dalgish, Graeme Souness, Ally McCoist or Alan Hansen. England may not have Sir Bobby Charlton, Bryan Robson, Gary Lineker or Gazza.

But tonight, 22 men will give their all for their respective nations. Celtic Park is the lions' den.

Are Roy Hodgson's boys up for the fight?
