"They've changed it a little bit since the goal England, with Rooney pushing out to the left.

"It's a little tactical change, but I felt they were doing fine the way they were set up at the start of this game."

Captain-on-captain. Wayne Rooney filling in on the left wing and it's a monster of a 50/50 with Scott Brown. No quarter asked for, or given. You can taste the impact from here, but both men shake it off and get back on with it. Good to see.

Can Scotland find the same level of penetration that England managed? Charlie Mulgrew starts an attack with a fine spread out wide but it runs out of gas near the penalty area.

Against the Republic of Ireland Scotland were peppering the penalty area with crosses. They've not managed to repeat the trick this evening. Yet.

"Great quality from Jack Wilshere to pick out Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and it is a lead England deserve. Just showing a bit more composure on the ball and more drive than Scotland, who are struggling to sustain an attacking threat."

"Jack Wilshere has been having more and more impact on the game. He's looked sharp and he's tried a few diagonals inside the Scotland defence, and that one came off perfectly."

Much has been made of the deployment of Jack Wilshere in that deeper, 'quarterback' role for England. And that is what he can do. Moments after the goal though the Arsenal man is down on the floor after a heavy tackle. He's up, but limping.

"It's a great goal but you've got to question the communication and the marking between the two centre-backs as he just ghosts in between them.

"On the balance of play, England deserve to be up."

What a ball! Brilliant pass from Jack Wilshere silences Celtic Park. Scotland stand off Wilshere, on the left wing, near the halfway line. He has time to look up and lazers a ball over the top, not a chip but driven with the laces, and it's perfect.

Perfectly weighted to find Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's run in to the box. It just needs a touch, and it gets one. Slight tickle off the top of the head and it's 1-0 to England...

Max Diskerud has equalised for USA against Ireland in Dublin after Chris Wondolowski headed across the face of goal.

Anthony Pilkington had given Ireland the lead after nine minutes.

It's goalless though at half-time between Portugal and Argentina at Old Trafford.

    Alasdair Lamont
BBC Scotland Sport at Celtic Park

"Scotland not showing too many signs of fatigue after the demands of Friday night's match against Republic of Ireland. Gordon Strachan will be satisfied with much of what he's seen thus far, with players looking to get on the ball and working hard to deny England time and space when the opposition have possession."

The first lull in the game, on the pitch and in the stands. A half-hour breather. England shading possession, neither goalkeeper really tested as yet.

Will Jackson:, external It may not be as skilful as some European nations, but British football is, in my opinion, much more entertaining.

Daniel Woodley:, external Well done Danny Welbeck, getting stuck in and chasing after every ball. Refreshing to see.

Jack Robertson:, external Don't think I could cope living in America without #bbcfootball live text! Come on Scotland!

As Pat points out, Danny Welbeck is certainly up for it. Unfortunately for England fans he can't match his effort with class, as he wastes another good opening by turning the wrong way in the penalty area and the chance is gone.

    Former Scotland international Pat Nevin

"What is quite intriguing for me is that Danny Welbeck seems more whipped up than I've ever seen in any game in his career. He's right up for this and that's great to see.

"And Scotland are closing England down so quickly, which is what they must do. If Scotland stand back they will be destroyed. They must not give Rooney, Downing, Wilshere any space because with five yards they will pick out a pass. That's why this is all so frenetic."

"Much brighter from Scotland and it was a familiar tale on Friday, where they didn't start too brightly.

"But, they grew and grew into the game and the same is slowly happening here."

First knock of the night as Luke Shaw goes down after clearing his lines, he was just caught by Steven Naismith as he hounded him down. Bit of a delay, chance for both sets of coaching staff to hold summits on the touchline. Gary Neville wants something from James Milner.

What does the gesture of punching your own hands suggest?

The first quarter of the game has flown by. Not quite the intensity and tempo of Scotland v Ireland on Friday, but close enough. As England friendlies go, this is amazing.

    Willie Miller
Former Scotland midfielder on BBC Radio Scotland

"When Scotland get the ball, they're not showing the same confident movement England are.

"But, that will take a bit of time and the more confidence that builds, the easier it will get for Scotland.

"They've just got to keep that composure."

The England fans burst into voice. But it's Scotland doing the talking on the pitch, Hull left-back Andrew Robertson driving on and whipping in a wonderful early cross, Scott Brown on the slide just can't reach it! Fine play from Robertson...
