Match of the Day commentator Guy Mowbray: "I think there are many layers as to why Yaya Toure has not been performing at his best for Manchester City. He had a family tragedy and there was the summer with Ivory Coast at the World Cup. The stick is fair because he's not performed as well as he can. When he is on form, for any of the top three or four teams he's the difference between winning title and not. Regarding the City v Chelsea match, I fancy the London side because of the way they have started."

Football writer Amy Lawrence: "City manager Manuel Pellegrini is a measured man, but he came out and said Toure is struggling after the death of his brother. You expect our footballers to always be at the top, but sometimes life's not like that."

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy: "On today's game, I think with Chelsea striker Diego Costa, something is going to happen with him soon. Every Chelsea match I watch he's on edge all the time. It won't be long before he flares up. The contest between him and City defender Vincent Kompany will be fascinating. I fancy City. Chelsea had the best defensive record, but by playing Cesc Fabregas and Costa you lose the legs. Today will be down to tactics when you have two teams with so much quality."

    Radamel FalcaoImage source, Empics

Radamel Falcao makes his first start for Manchester United, with manager Louis van Gaal preferring the striker to Juan Mata. It is the only change to the United team which beat QPR 4-0, which means Luke Shaw must make do with a place on the substitutes' bench.

Former Inter Milan midfielder Esteban Cambiasso makes his full debut for Leicester City after his influential substitute appearance against Stoke last week. He is one of four changes to the side, with Kasper Schmeichel, Danny Drinkwater and Jamie Vardy also starting.

Matt Roller:, external United's defence still looks shaky if I'm honest. Think they'll win but only just, could be a high scorer. 2-3.

Sam Burnett:, external Personally would have dropped Robin Van Persie instead of Juan Mata, but liking the attacking line up.

Tom Geoffrey:, external Disgrace dropping Mata. RvP should have made way for Falcao.

  7. BREAKING TEAM NEWSpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 21 September 2014

Match of the Day commentator Guy Mowbray: "It's become more difficult for Liverpool now and there is certainly more emphasis on their big games, starting next weekend with Everton. But it is far too soon to be drawing conclusions. City had lost three games by this stage last season. It is who Liverpool have lost to that is the problem, they have lost games they would have expected to win. I can understand the frustration but there is a long way to go."

Football writer Amy Lawrence: "The Luis Suarez factor was always going to loom extremely large. Think of the fear factor any other team had playing Liverpool last year, and the connection with Sturridge. Both of those things have been lost this year. Fabio Borini is still in development to an extent, and Mario Balotelli, we all know about. Plus the team is going to need time to get to know one another. It is absurd to expect everything to click straight away."

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murhpy: "We have noticed a common theme. Liverpool have lost Luis Suarez, and Daniel Sturridge is now injured, so who is the danger man? Steven Gerrard. But against Aston Villa Gabriel Agbonlahor was put on him and yesterday Stewart Downing marked him. They starved him of the ball and that is a problem because no other Liverpool player has his range of passing. The other factor is Liverpool's ability to press from the front and pressure teams, which worked so well last year. No one does that like Suarez did. Mario Balotelli's work ethic is not comparable."

MOTD's John Motson at White Hart Lane

"No Premier League club made more signings than West Brom this summer, and with a new head coach and 11 new recruits all trying to bed in, it is no surprise they have made a slow start.

"Tottenham were in a similar position last summer but a year on they are reaping the benefits after a transitional phase.

"Spurs have only lost once this season and they should have enough to continue their excellent record against the Baggies."

  10. Sunday blues for the Baggiespublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 21 September 2014

West Brom have won none of their last 13 Premier League games on a Sunday, losing seven, last tasting victory when Roy Hodgson guided them to a win against Liverpool in April 2012.

They're due one - and they need one today.

On the back of last week's shellacking of a woeful QPR, and in the wake of a shopping spree that has been the envy of most of Europe, the Dutchman this week cast aside any fears of complacency going into today's game at Leicester.

"I have analysed them three times," he said. "I prepare all my matches very thoroughly. I know all about the games they have played already and the game they lost to a minor team [Shrewsbury] in the Capital One Cup.

"I know everything about the team, about individuals, substitutes, what the atmosphere will be like in the stadium, how they take free-kicks, everything."

He even knows how to get off that ring road near the ground. The man is a genius.

MOTD's Martin Fisher at the King Power

"Manchester United unleashed five of their six major summer recruits in the 4-0 dismantling of QPR last week, which gave new boss Louis van Gaal his first competitive win in charge.

"British transfer record signing Angel Di Maria, in particular, sparkled in the midfield diamond, and it will be interesting to see if manager Louis van Gaal will keep faith in that system or revert to the three-man defence which he prefers but his players seemingly do not.

"Leicester, like United, won at the fourth time of asking last weekend. They have every reason to be more satisfied with their start than United though, having already faced three of last season's top five."

  13. Postpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 21 September 2014

Last weekend the world tuned in to see which particular members of the Manchester United Expendables would get the nod to start against QPR - and Angel Di Maria was the star man.

Away from home, which shape will Louis Van Gaal pick? We should find out soon enough.
