BBC Radio Merseyside summariser and former Everton winger Ronny Goodlass at Old Trafford: "We keep saying about strikers following shots in and Falcao has just redirected it home. But Everton should have kicked the ball out of play when they had possession. There were only 10 players on the pitch and they were waiting to make the change."

BBC Radio Merseyside summariser and former Everton winger Ronny Goodlass at Old Trafford: "It's a tremendous cross from Leighton Baines. It makes the goal because the goalkeeper cannot come and claim it. Steven Naismith totally deserves the goal. He does put a real shift in when he puts the blue shirt on. That is what happens if you put United's back four under pressure."

From nowhere, Everton are level. A well-worked free-kick, from 35 yards out, ends with Leighton Baines curling in an exquisite cross from just outside the area and Steven Naismith nips in front of his marker at the back stick to power a bullet header past David De Gea. Game on.

Discussing the apparent lack of atmosphere at Manchester City's game against Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday, which didn't sell out.

Sunday Mirror journalist Andy Dunn: "Football is expensive to follow. People say it was a terrible atmosphere at a certain game but there is a lot of football to watch and too many players are taking it for granted. I still think Manchester City are still at a point where domestic dominance is still their priority."

Former QPR and Man City winger Trevor Sinclair: "I don't agree that domestic dominance is their priority as I know a lot of Man City fans and they want to win the Champions League. I think it wasn't a full house because of the costing and it is midweek."

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown: "I think Manchester City are still a young club in terms of their development. They are not really ready for the Champions League."

Discussing Liverpool's defensive struggles this season after they failed to keep a clean sheet in their 2-1 win over West Brom on Saturday.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown: "At the moment Liverpool aren't defending like a unit. Is Dejan Lovren really the leader they thought they had bought? Martin Skrtel has come into the side and has been indifferent while Mamadou Sakho left the ground the other week in disgust at being dropped."

Former QPR and Man City winger Trevor Sinclair: "You look at that back four, Skrtel and Lovren are the main guys you look to for keeping that clean sheet and they are struggling at the moment. Against West Brom, Lovren gave away a penalty and I can't understand why he is sliding in. It might have been outside the box, but he should have stayed on his feet and maybe that shows a lack of confidence at the moment."
