  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 12:31 British Summer Time 5 October 2014

Everton keeper Tim Howard is busier than the village vicar this Sunday lunch-time as he makes a wonderful save from Angel Di Maria's sweetly-struck and deflected free-kick from 35 yards out.

BBC Radio Merseyside summariser and former Everton winger Ronny Goodlass at Old Trafford: "I thought it might have been an Everton throw-in in the build up. The referee is taking his time to explain the situation to Phil Jagielka. After Everton had ridden a couple of United chances, there is a lay off and an instant shot from Angel Di Maria on his supposedly weaker right foot. From the edge of the box he knocks it into the left side of Tim Howard's goal."

A funny tale about Louis van Gaal (see 11 mins) has got us asking: Who's the most famous person you've met in the lift? And did they say anything to you?

Ben Everitt:, external Bumped into Shaun Wright-Phillips with a bag of pristinely wrapped Christmas pressies in a lift in Manchester. Nowt for me though.

Paul Whitehurst:, external Shared a lift with Mickey Stewart in Brum. Ignored him for freezing my hero, David Gower, out of the England cricket team.

Ben Spiro-Hughes:, external Not in a lift, but met Eric Cantona on a train and he was more than happy to sign his own sticker, in my sticker album.

A sublime finish, and it's the very least Manchester United deserve. Rafael whips in a cross from the right which is hooked clear by Phil Jagielka. However, the clearance falls at the feet of Juan Mata who shows real composure to lay the ball off for Angel Di Maria who curls a shot home from just inside the penalty area.

Angel Di Maria just oozes confidence and when he picks the ball just inside the Everton half, he thinks nothing of advancing and then unleashing a dipping shot from 35 yards out. Such was the power and dip on that effort, it looked like they were playing with a fly away football.

Apart from the four Premier League games going on today, there is also some appetising action in store in the Championship and Women's Super League.

Nottingham Forest host Ipswich at 15:00 BST with both teams looking to continue their promising starts to the campaign. Forest need a win to go back top but Ipswich can leapfrog their rivals and go joint top if they win.

Elsewhere, Chelsea Ladies have the chance to wrap up the Women's Super League title with a game to go.

The Blues play already-relegated Everton at home needing a win and defeats for Liverpool and Birmingham to lift the trophy. These matches start at 14:00 BST.

A funny tale about Louis van Gaal (see 11 mins) has got us asking: Who's the most famous person you've met in the lift? And did they say anything to you?

Paul Thorpe:, external Had a full blown conversation with Rob Green in a lift, then he realised he hadn't heard a thing I said... He had earphones in!

Rastamadeus FC:, external Carol Vorderman in a lift. Ashamed to say I didn't ask for "four from the top and anywhere else" as she pressed the floor number.

Craig JJ Hilton:, external Graeme Le Saux. I was about 10. No words said, just pure admiration and respect.

Radamel Falcao continues to look lively in the penalty box for Manchester United, but he snatches at his latest effort and drags it well wide after a superb flick from Angel Di Maria. The hosts are firmly on top, though.

    BBC Radio

BBC Radio Merseyside summariser and former Everton winger Ronny Goodlass at Old Trafford: "Everton are playing a 4-5-1 formation and up front Romelu Lukaku has been giving the ball away too cheaply. Some of the time you cannot believe what he does - you are just looking for him to hold up the ball but Manchester United have been having far too much possession.

"But this last spell has been a lot better - they've been passing the ball and that is what you need."

Muhamed Besic is the next player in Kevin Friend's book for a rash challenge on Radamel Falcao. Has the referee set the bar with these early bookings?

Everton finally get a chance to control possession from the centre of the park, but there's a sea of red in front of them and they eventually run the ball out of play.

    BBC Radio

BBC Radio Merseyside summariser and former Everton winger Ronny Goodlass at Old Trafford: "Can Aiden McGeady have a go at Luke Shaw? Shaw's not been in the team much and Louis van Gaal has been talking about his fitness. But McGeady's also got to track Shaw's runs - the first time he stood off him United had a sight of goal.

"I do think this is a great opportunity for Everton to win today. They have to ignore all the quality Manchester United have and concentrate on the qualities they have, when they play as a team. And they've had a decent start."

Manchester United continue to pour forward and a deep cross from the left picks out Juan Mata who hesitates slightly and loses the opportunity to shoot. The ball eventually runs loose to Daley Blind on the edge of the area, but the midfielder slips and the ball balloons into Row Z.

Manchester United have started well, which will please Louis van Gaal. I heard a funny tale about the Manchester United boss the other day. Apparently, he got in a hotel lift in the early evening and saw a fellow guest dripping with sweat after a gym work-out. Van Gaal apparently then suggested that now was not the time for a work-out, instead it was time for a nice meal and a drink.

Which got me thinking... who's the most famous person you've met in the lift? And did they say anything to you?

BBC Radio Merseyside summariser and former Everton winger Ronny Goodlass at Old Trafford: "Gareth Barry has already cut up two or three attacks and he made a great challenge on Robin van Persie to win the ball. Van Persie didn't like it, got frustrated, and picks up an early yellow card."

Get the ball into the box is Manchester United's early mantra - this time Angel Di Maria whipping in a fine delivery and Robin van Persie nips in front of John Stones but lifts his effort over the bar.
