"Victor Wanyama didn't panic (15:28), he didn't lash at it and got his side-foot through the ball with lots of power and forced Hugo Lloris into making a superb save. It would be better for Southampton if Wanyama or Morgan Schneiderlin were given greater licence to move forward now."

Arsenal desperately need a little spark of inspiration, but Santi Cazorla can't provide it as he drags a shot wide.

  3. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:28 British Summer Time 5 October 2014

It's been a day of top goalkeeping - Hugo Lloris following up where David De Gea left off by tipping Victor Wanyama's stinging shot round the post.

Ipswich lead at the City Ground through a beauty from Daryl Murphy. The Tractor Boys midfielder cut in off the flank after the ball was played forward by Cole Skuse and twisted the blood of Kelvin Wilson before slotting home.

Steve Huish, Surbiton: Jack Wilshere just isn't as good as he thinks he is. Cesc Fabregas however, IS

Freddie, Newcastle: I think there's just about more chance of Jose Mourinho hailing Arsene Wenger as an inimitable genius before offering him the position of senior tactical consultant than there is of Arsenal creating a goalscoring chance here.

Jim, Cambridge: Come on Arsene play Mesut Ozil in the middle or get Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on. Would be nice if we had a defensive midfielder that can tackle... I'll save that for later.

Younes Kaboul continues to be Tottenham's rock at the back - being in the right place at the right time to cut out Nathaniel Clyne's teasing cross.

Matt Cox:, external It's about time football employed independent doctors to assess head injuries. Team physios are too biased for such important issues.

Jay:, external All Arsenal need to do during the break is show the players the clip of Arsene Wenger pushing Jose Mourinho. That should fire them up.

Ballerina-Astronaut:, external No zip, no power, no passion. Arsenal so impotent in these big games, it makes one wonder what a change in manager could bring.

IMMSY:, external Arsene Wegner v Jose Mourinho always reminds me of Magneto v Professor Charles Xavier in X-Men.

Luke Gwalchmai:, external Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on for Mesut Ozil to change the game, his pace will cause problems. Chances in this for Arsenal, game is not over.

"I'm not convinced it should be a foul because Younes Kaboul is shoulder to shoulder with Sadio Mane and Kaboul is just the stronger man. But then the next question is: 'Why was it not red?' Kaboul was the last man. The one thing I really did not expect to see there was yellow card."

From the resulting free-kick, Victor Wanyama laces a powerful effort into the wall or, to be precise, Danny Rose's head. The defender looks dazed as he rubs his head better. It was hit with some conviction.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 5 October 2014

Sadio Mane continues to cause Spurs problems and races through on goal, only to be bundled over by Younes Kaboul who ends up being booked for his troubles. To be fair to the big centre-half, he just looked stronger than Mane.

"This game has not been a thing of beauty, partly because both teams are trying too hard. Both sets of players have a good work ethic but the game has been squashed as a result, and there is no space in midfield.

"Southampton have not been getting forward in any great numbers except for maybe one chance in the first half. Spurs have been able to gobble them up time and again."

Match of the Day commentator at Upton Park

"The last time I saw West Ham manager Sam Allardyce was a fortnight ago when he walked into the press room grinning like a Cheshire cat. You couldn't blame him: 3-1 wins over Liverpool don't come around terribly often for most managers. But after last week's narrow defeat at Manchester United, it will be interesting to see if the Hammers can build on that last home performance.

"QPR travel across the capital as the only Premier League team without a point away from home so far this season. It's early days of course, but three games on the road have all ended in defeat."

Ken McDonald:, external What took so long to get Thibaut Courtois off the pitch? It was obvious on TV he was knocked out. Get serious about concussions.

BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty at Stamford Bridge

"Feisty stuff on and off the pitch - the two managers as involved as the players - but Chelsea have that slender advantage and once again Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger have to find some way to break the curse and beat Jose Mourinho."

Mark, Berkshire: A real half-time test for Ronald Koeman. This has been the worst 45 minutes of the season by Southampton. Spurs could be three up.
