"Tottenham are well known as being an open side, they play open attacking football and it looks like Manchester City enjoy playing against them. Under Mauricio Pochettino, they are not playing like his Southampton team did. They do not have the same players, particularly up front, and it will take a bit of time for Pochettino to impose his philosophy."

"Between Manchester City and Chelsea, they are the only two teams that can win the league. And when all their players are fit City have the best spine in the division. I think though at the moment Chelsea are the side you'd put your mortgage on, but City will be there or thereabouts.

"The simple problem for Tottenham at the moment is that they don't carry a goal threat. The manager needs to address that situation because they don't score enough goals."

Roberto Soldado starts up front for Spurs this afternoon, and ex-Tottenham winger Chris Waddle believes the striker could score goals if he is given an extended run in the team.

Waddle said:, external "He's never really been given a run in the side; [if they told him] 'look, there are five, six, seven games and you're going to play all the time,' then you'd see."

What do you guys think? I know a few Spurs fans who don't rate the Spanish striker.

  4. Was Moyes given enough time?published at 12:31 British Summer Time 18 October 2014

Former Manchester United defender Phil Neville
    Football Focus

"There was period where David Moyes got ridiculed and the stick was totally out of hand. The pressure he was under was immense, he looks healthy now which is good.

"With Manchester United still not performing to their best under Louis van Gaal, people are actually saying Moyes is a top manager, and I cannot wait to see him back in football. He wants to manage at the highest level, he wants to prove that to people and I think he can."

  5. Was Moyes given enough time?published at 12:28 British Summer Time 18 October 2014

    Mark Lawrenson
Former Liverpool defender on Football Focus

"Why would you give someone a six year contract? It was essentially admitting a rebuilding job needed doing. David Moyes wasn't naive to take that job, because Manchester United are one of the biggest jobs in the word. Moyes didn't win enough games, but some of the things that happened there during his time beggared belief."

Former Manchester United defender Phil Neville
    Football Focus

"When David Moyes got the Manchester United job he inherited a team that won the Premier League by 12 points. It would have been difficult to rip up the side and spend the money Louis van Gaal has now. He had to give that team a chance.

"From Christmas onwards we were looking at players and that is probably his biggest disappointment- that he didn't get the chance to do what van Gaal is doing now."

  7. The Moyes interviewpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 18 October 2014

    Mark Lawrenson
Former Liverpool defender on Football Focus

In an exclusive interview with BBC sports editor Dan Roan, former Manchester United manager David Moyes spoke on a wide range of topics, including his departure from Old Trafford, Everton's youngsters and Wayne Rooney.

"Everyone involved in the football world looked at the United job after Sir Alex Ferguson left and thought it was something of a poisoned chalice. David Moyes hasn't suddenly become a bad manager. Three of his top four defenders were coming to the end of their careers, for example.

"Moyes' next choice of job is the most important decision of his managerial career. He has to pick the right job for him at a club that will give him a chance. And, to be honest, I think the negativity surrounding his time at Old Trafford is dissipating.

"It was the first time in his career David Moyes had been sacked, and he was sacked by Manchester United. You would be angry for a while, wouldn't you?"

  8. Should Ched Evans play football again?published at 12:26 British Summer Time 18 October 2014

    BBC Radio 5 live

Ex-Scotland international Pat Nevin: "I understand everyone who says he should never play again.

"Where do you draw the line? Is football different to everything else? Does he never get a job anywhere else?

"I'm happy I'm not the PFA chairman who has to stand by his members. Anyone who argues he should never play in England again, I wouldn't be angry with them. But I think they have to understand the other point of view.

    "I'm completely conflicted."

  9. Should Ched Evans play football again?published at 12:25 British Summer Time 18 October 2014

Telegraph journalist Jason Burt: "There are certain jobs you can't just go back and do. I'm not saying he should never work in football again - I just don't think he should play again.

"Footballers are role models even if some of them don't think they are. I wouldn't expect to be a journalist again if I committed a crime like that.

"He has a right to work again. Unfortunately my natural sense of 'yes he should have that right' is counteracted by the nature of the crime. There's been no remorse - although he denies it - and football is slightly different to normal jobs."

Some breaking news to tell you about... Sheffield United have released a statement following a story in today's Sun newspaper which claims the club have offered a contract to Ched Evans - the former Manchester City striker who has been released from prison after serving a sentence for rape.

The club statement read:, external "An article in the Sun today (Saturday 18th October) that Sheffield United has offered a contract to former player Ched Evans is false and damaging to the club. We have made a statement on this matter previously and the lack of credibility and substance from this latest media report does not warrant any expansion from previous comments apart from noting that we are continuing to deliberate on any long term decision about Ched Evans."

  11. 'Best striker in the world'published at 12:17 British Summer Time 18 October 2014

Here is what Mauricio Pochettino actually said about Sergio Aguero: "When he plays it is like classical music in my head. It is unbelievable. I think he is the best striker in the world. I love Aguero. It's like Mozart - Beethoven is too crazy. For me, Aguero is the best. (Lionel) Messi is not a striker striker, Cristiano Ronaldo is not a striker striker, but Aguero is a striker. Everything you have to have as a striker, he has."

    High praise, indeed.

    Manchester City v Tottenham

Manchester City have claimed some big wins over Tottenham in recent years, notably a 6-0 success here last November, as part of a total winning margin of 11-1 in their two league meetings last season. That might explain why young City fan Eathan McColgan, who has come over from Ireland to see his first match, is expecting another easy victory. "I'm very confident," he says. "We are going to win 6-0 again."
