"Chelsea are looking so comfortable in possession, they are just knocking the ball around and the home crowd are becoming frustrated. You want to see Manchester United press Chelsea - they are taking the mick out of a United team that cost £150m to put together at least. It's not good enough."

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 26 October 2014

Oscar earns some Mourinho brownie points as he chases Marouane Fellaini, then Marcos Rojo and finally fouls Chris Smalling to stop United playing out of defence.

Phil Dowd is less impressed and shows yellow.

"If Manchester United lose, they will have taken 12 points from their first nine games under Louis van Gaal. That is unacceptable. You can say they are a team in transition but look at West Ham and Southampton and how well they are doing. People are going to have to start asking questions about what is happening at this football club. This is looking easy for Chelsea now."

A rasper from right off Willian's instep is clutched by David De Gea in the Manchester United goal. Great strike from 25 yards and a great save.

United need to find some firm ground in the game. They are on jelly legs at the moment.

BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty at Old Trafford

"Chelsea have moved through the gears from the moment this second half start and it has been a real show of power.

"Didier Drogba rolled back the years with that towering near post header but questions must be asked. Surely Robin van Persie had to better than a lame attempted clearance that merely helped the header in? And why was Rafael marking the giant figure of Drogba at the corner.

"Ryan Giggs has come down to the technical area to offer advice, but in boxing parlance Chelsea have got United trapped in the corner here."

Gumpha Rawat:, external Didier Drogba is going in reverse. First the penalty, now a copycat goal of the 2012 Champions League final!

John: You have to feel for David De Gea there. A world class save and then poor defending lets him down.

That is Didier Drogba's first Premier League goal since March 2012 when he found the net against Stoke.

There is life in the old dog yet. Is there still life in United though after that body blow?

"Manchester United were defensively all over the place. Robin van Persie was on the line, and if he stays there he heads the ball up and over the bar. He should stay on the post but comes off it into no-man's land and nods it into his own net instead. But why on earth is Rafael marking Didier Drogba in the first place?"

  11. GOALpublished at 17:12 Greenwich Mean Time 26 October 2014

Didier Drogba soars at the near post to guide home a powerful header. Robin van Persie - on the line - diverts the header's path but does not stop it from going in.

Think Drogba's late equaliser against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final of 2012. It was a very similar goal.

Chelsea ahead and that is a difficult situation for any side to rescue.

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 17:12 Greenwich Mean Time 26 October 2014

David De Gea saves United's skin with a tremendous save when exposed one-on-one with Eden Hazard. The Belgian forward played a one-two with Didier Drogba and was clean through. From the resulting corner though...

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 17:11 Greenwich Mean Time 26 October 2014

Cesc Fabregas is the third Chelsea booked and he is a little over-eager in his challenge on Juan Mata.

Rezaa Sait:, external Cesc Fabregas being overshadowed by Marouane Fellaini. Just shows what a goal can do to your confidence.

Alex West:, external Diego Costa injured and Fabregas pinned back by Manchester United's attacking midfield. Like watching the Chelsea of last season again.

Hugh in France:, external As I feared, the adrenaline has gone at half time. Happens too often. Maybe a philosophy lesson with the tea is a bad move.

  15. Postpublished at 17:09 Greenwich Mean Time 26 October 2014

Chelsea almost overload Manchester United down the right as Branislav Ivanovic bombs on on the under-lap and is played in by Didier Drogba.

Adnan Januzaj hadn't managed to keep pace with the Chelsea defender, but United just about manage to shuffle across and shovel the ball clear.

No changes for either side in personnel or positioning so far. Eden Hazard is lurking around the already-booked Rafael though. Will he draw the Brazilian into a rash and final challenge?

Nez, Kent: Probably a penalty but if the referee doesn't see it, the referee can't give it. Too much going on in the area. Assistants don't generally assist anyway.

  18. KICK-OFFpublished at 17:04 Greenwich Mean Time 26 October 2014

Didier Drogba and Oscar tap off and we are back under way.

Chelsea Warrior:, external Marcos Rojo on John Terry, Chris Smalling on Branislav Ivanovic. How stone wall can it be before Phil Dowd finally gives a penalty?

Ricky Lee Everett:, external Talk all you want about Smalling holding, but surely Ivanovic trying to rip his shirt of his back is the first offence?

Richard:, external The argument that it happens at every set piece in every game holds no water. Wrestling in the box is a penalty.

Teams back out. Chelsea trudging out a good two minutes after United, keeping their hosts waiting.
