Here's a story you might not have seen yet...

Former Wales captain Ryan Giggs says Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale can become the country's greatest ever player.

"I think he could be the best," Giggs told BBC Radio Wales Sport. "He's playing at a great club and he's doing it week in, week out and he's doing it for Wales as well.

"He can be as good as he wants to be because he's such an amazing talent. He can go all the way."

Wales manager Chris Coleman, speaking to Sky Sports: "In the last campaign we probably played the better football but we were too soft and if we went behind we wouldn't get back in. It's a different group now, a lot of the lads have matured and the togetherness is incredible.

"If we hadn't had that tonight we wouldn't have won the game. We had the most expensive player in the world tracking back and making tackles, without that we wouldn't have won the game. The crowd were nervous like I was but in the last 10 minutes they were brilliant and they pushed us over the line again, two games in the space of four days is difficult but the crowd helped us tonight.

"I think we were looking to average over one point every game and we're doing OK. If you had said to us we would top the group after three games we would have taken it.

"Our last defeat here was a year ago, we have a lot of work to do but the players need to be given a big pat on the back after how they've performed."

  7. Manager's viewpublished at 22:04 British Summer Time 13 October 2014

Wales manager Chris Coleman, speaking to Sky Sports: "When I saw the red card I thought it would kill us, we should have been 3 or 4 up by that point and we got too sloppy when really we should be killing these games off.

"I thought it wouldn't be our night but credit to our players. They were greedy and that's what we needed to get the three points."

Wales forward Gareth Bale, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a great start from us, we came out of the blocks firing just how we wanted to. I think you can see how much the lads wanted it - it's a different feeling in the camp now and the fans were fantastic again throughout. Since the sending off we covered every blade of grass and fought to the end. It's a great place to be at the moment, it's a big game against Belgium but we will go there full of confidence now."

There is no doubt what game tonight will grab the most headlines tomorrow - Iceland's famous 2-0 win over the Netherlands thanks to Gylfi Sigurdsson's brace.

Iceland and the Czech Republic top Group A with nine points. Netherlands are third on three points.

In Wales' Group B, Bosnia and Belgium drew 1-1, while Omer Damari scored a hat-trick as Israel beat Andorra 4-1.

The most emphatic win tonight was Croatia's 6-0 demolition of Azerbaijan in Group H. Italy debutant Graziano Pelle scored the only goal in a 1-0 win at Malta.

And Norway beat Bulgaria 2-1, with 15-year-old Martin Odegaard making his competitive international debut.

Wales have made a great start to Group B then, but they play Belgium home and away, in between a trip to Israel, in their next three matches. If they are still top after that run of games, they can start buying a France A to Z.
