"That was fantastic vision from Gareth Bale. He was marked tightly, but that's how clever he is. He flicked it inside for Hal Robson-Kanu, who took his time, but it was a fantastic finish and he showed great composure. Hopefully we can enjoy the rest of this game now.

"Wales are looking comfortable. I have been impressed with Andy King and the energy levels he has given us alongside Joe Ledley."

A finish that Ian Rush, Dean Saunders and John Hartson would be proud of.

Wales slice open Cyprus with two passes through the middle, one of which is a neat backheel from Gareth Bale, and Hal Robson-Kanu is sent scampering through on goal for a classy finish which puts Wales in total control of this game.

"It has been a fiery start to the game in Cardiff.

"Cyprus had insisted before the match that they had no particular plans to deal with Gareth Bale, but it took them just four minutes to make a mockery of those claims.

"But Wales brushed off that flashpoint.

"The crowd is not quite as big as it was for Friday's goalless draw against Bosnia-Hercegovina, but the Cardiff City Stadium is bouncing after Cotterill's opener."

Wales manager Chris Coleman calmly chews gum in his technical area. In contrast, Cyprus coach Pambos Christodoulou is looking a little hot under his suave designer shirt collar.

Can Wales get another one? Gareth Bale drives forward through the middle and hammers a shot towards goal which is fumbled before being dealt with at the second attempt. That's not the first time Anastasios Kissas has spilled a shot. Wales need to be following up those long-rangers.

"Hal Robson-Kanu gets across the defender, but cannot get a touch and the keeper is absolutely nowhere. What a great start for Wales.

"I like the movement from the four most attacking players for Wales, they are causing Cyprus lots of problems."

If it's good enough for Ronaldinho, it'll do for David Cotterill.

The Welsh substitute puts the hosts into the lead when he delivers a cross from the left wing which sails over everyone's head, including the Cyprus keeper, to lift the roof off the Cardiff City Stadium.

"We have had a bit of everything. We have had a bit of recklessness and an injury.

"I'm not sure George Williams knows what his job is. He was taken from the wide left position, but now doesn't know what will be expected of him. I would not be too bothered if Chris Coleman had put David Cotterill up front. His goalscoring record when playing there is good."

Simon Church has indeed dislocated his shoulder. It's been popped back in by the physio. Apologies for that image if you're just sitting down to your evening meal. Out on the pitch, Gareth Bale tries his luck with a long-range shot which the goalkeeper does well to gather.

A potential shock in Reykjavik as Iceland take the lead against the Netherlands, with Gylfi Sigurdsson scoring a penalty. The would leave the Dutch six points adrift of the top two already.

The only other goal so far sees Israel lead in Andorra.

A band strikes up in the crowd and belts out the Rocky theme. Considering some of the hefty tackles being dished out by the Cypriots, it's quite an apt backing tune.

Simon Church is treated for his injury and is off the field while it is assessed by the physios. Cyprus try to use their extra man advantage but Wales counter and Gareth Bale is cynically hacked down by Marios Nicolaou who is booked for his troubles.

Is Simon Church about to extend the Welsh injury list to 12 names? The Charlton striker appears to come off worse in an innocuous-looking challenge with Giorgos Merkis. He's clutching his shoulder as though he has perhaps dislocated it.
