"It will be interesting when Daniel Sturridge comes back because the two of them together could be very good."

"Emmerson Boyce got sent out (to talk to the media) by the club and I felt a bit sorry for him really. He's had to come out and back the new manager."

We're asking for your tales of when wayward shots went wrong...

Craig, West Mids: In the park once I shanked a wayward volley high over the chain fence surrounding the pitch and watched it dip (rather beautifully) on to the back of the head of a six- year-old boy holding hands with his mum. He turned and shouted: "Don't ever hit me again!" to his confused little sister stood six feet behind him. Couldn't stand up for laughing. Couldn't have done it again if I tried.

Louis Rossi: I was playing headers and volleys in the park when an elderly terrier began haring around after the ball. A friend teed the ball up for me and for perhaps the first time ever I hit a volley sweet as a nut towards the bottom corner. Had the keeper beaten all ends up. The terrier had second thoughts, racing across the goal line and blocking the shot with its flank. If memory serves, the little dog was physically lifted off its feet.

Michael Richardson: I once smashed a shot against the post which deflected out and hit a spectator breaking his nose. I went over to see if he was OK and discovered the injured man was the referee who had sent me off the previous weekend.

This week, Wigan appointed Malky Mackay, who is still being investigated by the FA over allegations he sent racist, sexist and homophobic texts and emails to colleagues during his time at Cardiff.

Latics owner Dave Whelan has defended his decision to appoint Mackay but courted controversy of his own with remarks that he then had to apologise for.

    Here are Lawro's thoughts:

"I can understand why you would appoint him (Mackay) from a football point of view because he knows that division but what if he is proven guilty?

"You can't say what Whelan said. He has been fantastic for Wigan but it is time for someone to be in his place. A chief executive. Somebody at that club needs to think before they speak."

"I think Arsenal going through a season unbeaten was a bit of a freak. Chelsea are capable of it but the season is just too long and too tough."

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry talks about the 'Invincibles' team of the 2003-04 season on Football Focus: "The key was our togetherness. People talk about the Arsenal way but that team in four passes sometimes there was a goal. Every player was unselfish. Everybody was willing to give the ball to the guy in the better position. The generosity was outstanding.

"You think that you can't lose. But you can't think you're unbeatable. It was an everyday process to ensure we remained unbeaten.

"The hardest part for me is when you are already champions,. You still have to play the last three or four games and to keep the commitment is difficult when you don't need to win. But it sunk in for us all what we had done when the final whistle blew on the last game.

"Chelsea are capable of doing it. But we were the first to do it in the modern era."

The early kick-off in the Championship promises to be a fiery one as Huddersfield host Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday at the John Smith's Stadium. Both teams are hungry for a win.

Huddersfield have lost their last two games, after going unbeaten in their previous seven matches as Chris Powell's reign got off to a good start.

Wednesday have not won any of their last 10 games in all competitions, losing four. However, the Owls did win their last visit to Town, 2-0 in February.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert says he is annoyed by comments made by skipper Ron Vlaar's agent, who claimed contract talks had broken down between the Premier League club and the Dutchman.

Vlaar, who joined from Feyenoord in 2012, is out of contract next summer and has been linked with his former Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.

"I saw his agent's comments and I think he has been a tad over the top," said Lambert. "We have been speaking to Ron and the agent said 'thanks but no thanks' basically.

"You shouldn't wash dirty laundry in public. I'm not blaming Ron - he's been great. We're trying our best to keep him - we'd love to keep him. We've put our foot forward on that front and I'm annoyed that the agent said the ball is in our court."

    Doesn't carry as much substance?

Well, in his latest column for BBC Sport, Robbie Savage goes even further and says neither Arsenal or Manchester United have any hope of winning the Premier League and are only fighting to finish fourth - to claim the last Champions League spot.

"The sad fact for both clubs is that we are only in November and neither of them can have any realistic hopes of winning the Premier League," says Savage. "They have something else in common in that going forward they are brilliant, but defensively they are miles off the standard required to be champions.

"When you consider what such fantastic managers Arsene Wenger and Louis van Gaal are, then it is amazing that they have failed so badly to get the balance they need in their teams."

Robbie has also picked his combined Arsenal and Manchester United side. Agree?

Arsenal and Manchester United fixtures have lost a bit of their sparkle in recent years, reckons ex-Red Devils skipper Paul Ince.

"Arsenal v Manchester United is always a massive game - history shows they have been fiery occasions. But when I look at the two sides now they don't carry the same calibre of players as they used to.

"We always wanted to see the likes of Keane, Vieira and Adams, and look at what kind of battles would go ahead in that game. Now it doesn't carry as much substance."
