A scare for Burnley as Danny Ings gets in behind the left-back and flicks the ball into the box, but there's nobody on hand to convert and Daryl Janmaat puts the ball out for a corner. That also comes to nothing.

Rob Green's resistance is finally ended by a fine Swansea goal! Wilfried Bony spins the pass out wide left to Ki Sung-yueng, he beats his man and flashes in a wicked cross-shot which thumps against the base of the post before bouncing into the net.

Was it a cross? I can't decide. Swansea won't really care.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:19 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

Both sides make a change up front. Peter Crouch is on for Stoke, while Radamel Falcao replaces James Wilson for Manchester United. Standing ovation for Wilson's efforts.

Andy Carroll is putting himself about a bit, showing no signs of the ankle problem that troubled him for the first three months of the season. He gets stuck into a tangle with West Brom centre-back Joleon Lescott a little too keenly, though, and receives a talking to from referee Mike Jones.

Tom in Bristol: Why are Liverpool allowing a 10-man Leicester to come at them so fiercely! Liverpool could get a third and have his game sewn up but they're playing for 2-1 here!

  9. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 21:17 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2014

Steven Gerrard is through again! One on one with Kasper Schmeichel, he tries to go round the Dane, there's contact - but no penalty given. Schmeichel gives Gerrard a dirty look. Was that a pen?

Palace striker Fraizer Campbell races on to James McArthur's through ball but is just beaten to the ball by the outrushing Brad Guzan. The former Cardiff striker is booked after colliding with the Villa goalkeeper. All Crystal Palace but they continue to lack the final ball.

Stephen Ireland goes in the book for taking out James Wilson before Stoke boss Mark Hughes rolls back the years with a sublime touch as the ball spins into the dugout. Still got it.

"Come on Burnley" is belted out by the Clarets supporters, who sound Lancastrian even when chanting at a football match. Not a bad effort. They realise their side are now second best as Newcastle begin to show their class.

Thomas Fiorilli:, external I like Rojo a lot. People forget how long it took Vidic and Evra to adapt to the PL. He will be a great addition long term.
