  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:44 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2014

Sunderland are pressing hard for a winner and only a fantastic fingertip save by Adrian denies Connor Wickham's rasping drive from the edge of the box. It has not quite happened for the Hammers in attack in this half.

Southampton have lost just one of their last six away games at Turf Moor, but that record looks like getting worse this afternoon. The Saints have around five minutes to save this one.

Yaya Toure takes out three defenders with one swift turn and a sleight of the right foot. Unfortunately his subsequent shot can't complement the skill and ends up in the side-netting.

Leicester are growing in confidence, and Manchester City seem to be playing into the Foxes' hands. They have nobody stationed up front and when Jesus Navas counters down the right, there's nobody forward in support.

Almost a sneaky equaliser for Aston Villa as Christian Benteke produces an inventive flick to get to the ball first in a busy box, but the effort drifts just wide of goal.

I reckon one more point after today, and Chelsea will be safe. That's the first objective sorted for the season...

Diafra Sakho gives the ball away to Connor Wickham on the edge of the West Ham area but the Sunderland striker fails to capitalise as he breaks into the area, but lofts a cross high and wide.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:36 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2014

Hamstrings are going all over the place. Now it's Marouane Chamakh who pulls up clutching his hammy. That's two, who's going to be the third? Dwight Gayle is on in his place.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:35 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2014

Didier Drogba gets 20 minutes or so to have a go at the tiring Hull defence. He replaces Oscar, who Jonathan Pearce tells me has played 185 games in two years. No wonder he looks a bit tired.

"Vincent Kompany's hamstring has gone. As soon as he started running there he grabbed at it - he has got a real problem. There have been very few chances in this half, but Riyad Mahrez has been the bright spark for Leicester. Every time he picks up the ball the crowd gets excited - they can see he can take players on."

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:35 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2014

Poor old Vincent Kompany. In the Belgian's first game since returning from a hamstring injury... he pulls his hamstring. He knows straight away, clutching his right leg. Martin Demichelis is brought on to see this one out. 10 minutes or so to go.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:33 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2014

Manchester City's lone frontman Jose Pozo is taken off by his manager, and replaced by Jesus Navas. For Leicester, Nick Powell is on for Jamie Vardy.

As it stands, Burnley are heading out of the relegation zone. Southampton have an instant chance to recover, with Jose Fonte's header well saved by Tom Heaton.

It goes from bad to worse for managerless Hartlepool United at the bottom of League Two. Embarrassed by Blyth Spartans in the FA Cup, Hartlepool are trailing 4-0 at Burton Albion. It will be seven defeats in eight League Two games unless they can turn it around. Tranmere Rovers, League Two's other strugglers, are making a better fist of it at Dagenham and Redbridge, where the score is 0-0.

Big goal for Burnley! And a defensive horror show from Southampton just to add insult to injury.

Saints have a throw-in in their right-back position, and seconds later they concede. Unforgivable really. Nathaniel Clyne loses the ball, Ashley Barnes picks it up just inside the penalty area and his deflected shot squeezes under the feet of Fraser Forster, who probably should have done better. Ronald Koeman will be furious with that one.

It has taken them a while, but West Brom have finally made the breakthrough as the rebound from a blocked Brown Ideye shot falls kindly for Craig Gardner, who fires through a crowd and into the back of the net.

"It's another great cross from Oscar but what I really love about him is that Chelsea are 2-0 up and a man to the good and he has just sprinted 40-yards to shut down a Hull player."
