Sunday Times reporter Jonathan Northcroft: "Tottenham are not competing in games against the top sides. It is a team that has a lot of change in it and I wonder who the big characters are? Against Chelsea they started well but, when things went wrong, they collapsed. I wonder if so many players coming in at the same time means they don't feel the same responsibility and don't feel as attached to the club. It does seem to spoil the mentality of the team."

QPR XI: Green, Isla, Dunne, Caulker, Suk-Young, Henry, Barton, Vargas, Fer, Austin, Zamora.

Sunday Times reporter Jonathan Northcroft on Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet:

"Brendan Rodgers will back Simon Mignolet but he hasn't been good this season and wasn't good last season. He replaced a very good goalkeeper in Reina, the fans loved him, and Liverpool don't have the greatest number two goalkeeper in Brad Jones. There is not much scope in taking Mignolet out of the team. I think they will try and do something in that position in January. They have needed to address the goalkeeping department since Reina left."

Away from the Premier League for a second, there are nine FA Cup ties being played today as 18 teams hope to follow Friday night giantkillers Blyth Spartans into round three.

Conference Premier club Wrexham host Maidstone United, the day's lowest-ranked side, in the only tie to feature any team from outside the Football League.

Jamie Matthews: So Newcastle fans, still calling for Alan Pardew to be sacked? Well done to the club for sticking with him.

Rian Hoskins: Thought this would happen for Chelsea not taking their chances. Must say though that Papiss Cisse is showing he is a good striker.

Conor McMeekin: Right Chelsea, everyone in the country saw that goal coming, hurry up and get your act together now!

  15. CLOSE!published at 14:04 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2014

Almost a second for Newcastle as Moussa Sissoko cushions a header just wide, John Terry doing just enough to put him off. It is not something we have seen often this season, but Chelsea are looking a little rattled.

    Former Wales international John Hartson
BBC Radio 5 live at St James' Park

"Papiss Cisse makes an immediate impact. Gary Cahill failed to clear a ball into the box, the ball fell to Cisse's feet just five yards out and he made no mistake. But that is the difference. Cisse is a natural striker and is looking to score always. He got his reward just five minutes after coming on. Chelsea have been the better side but they haven't created too many chances and as we have gone on into the game Newcastle have grown."

Well how about this? Jose Mourinho has never won at Newcastle and his hopes of ending that have taken a blow as substitute Papiss Cisse strikes with pretty much his first touch since coming on. Sammy Ameobi crosses low from the left, Gary Cahill fluffs his clearance, and up pops Cisse to tap in. Game on.
