Wilfried Bony is inches away from doubling Swansea's lead. Cheikhou Kouyate is caught in possession and Bony strikes the loose ball just wide from 20 yards. The visitors are so dangerous on the break.

Frustration growing among the home fans as Andy Carroll is penalised for what appeared to be just holding his ground. Don't forget Hammers boss Sam Allardyce admits he chose to sign Carroll over Wilfried Bony in the summer of 2013...

"After the great start West Ham have made to the season is there a tingle of pressure to keep it going now? The way they have been playing, they can come back from being a goal down. But the atmosphere has dropped a notch, and what they need to do is introduce more speed and purpose in their play to get the crowd off their feet."

Swansea almost double their lead as Gylfi Sigurdsson has a shot from the edge of the penalty area beaten away by goalkeeper Adrian.

A good response from West Ham. Andy Carroll knocks down a hopeful ball into the area but Enner Valencia's quick-fire volley is blocked by Ashley Williams and deflected over. The resulting corner from Stewart Downing flashes across goal to safety.

Swansea are certainly quick starters this season. They have scored nine goals in the opening 30 minutes of games this season, and only 11 in the closing 60 minutes. Some hope for West Ham then.

"It's a smash and grab from Swansea. They score with their first move into the box. Jefferson Montero showed awareness to cut it back to Wilfried Bony and he is brimming with confidence. He was not going to miss from there. A finish from a man who is in the highest of form."

Talk about against the run of play. After soaking up West Ham's pressure, Swansea break and open the scoring. Gylfi Sigurdsson feeds Jefferson Montero on the left and his low pull back is turned home by Wilfried Bony from 12 yards. Who else? The Ivory Coast striker is the top Premier League scorer in 2014.

Almost the opener for West Ham. Kevin Nolan - needing one goal to reach 100 in league football - gets on the end of a cross but his shot is well kept out by goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski. The hosts are getting closer.

"Swansea seem fairly content that they have managed to withstand West Ham, but the home side are not at full throttle yet. They have been patient with the ball and have tried to work it to the overlapping full-backs to get crosses in. Swansea just haven't got their game going yet. You can see why they have had troubles away from home this season. You feel the only way they will bring their game is if West Ham get the first goal."

Carl Jenkinson is seeing plenty of the ball for the Hammers on the right. He is fed by the lively Cheikou Kouyate and his low cross is volleyed wide by Kevin Nolan.

Swansea's first attack of the match but Angel Rangel's cross from the right is deep, too deep as it sails over the goal and into the crowd.

Some half-hearted appeals for a penalty as Carl Jenkinson's right wing cross hits Swansea's Jazz Richards. The shout is for handball but it hits his body and play is waved on. Good start from the Hammers though.

Richard, South Wales: All the talk yesterday was about Chelsea being invincible. All the talk today is about West Ham going third with a win. I'm backing the Swans to upset the focus of the build up. Wilfried Bony to show them what they missed.

West Ham are enjoying a lot of the ball early on and the home fans are right up for this. Enner Valencia has a half sight of goal but, with the ball bouncing inside the penalty area, Ashley Williams recovers and clears the danger.

"Swansea have that finesse about them while West Ham have pace and power - they can play in bursts of real tempo and it will be interesting to see whether Swansea can keep them at bay. The West Ham fans are in good voice today. They are really excited about their team and what they might be able to produce this season. It could be a memorable one."

What a difference a few months makes.

On their way to 13th in the Premier League last season, Sam Allardyce faced major criticism from some supporters.

He kept his job - just - but on the proviso he recruited a new attacking coach "to ensure the team provides more entertainment next season".

Happier now than Hammers fans? A cagey start.
