Derby make the breakthrough and it owes everything to the driving run from Will Hughes who beats a couple of challenges down the left and drives over a low cross that Alex Mowatt deflects into his own goal. For the second game running, Leeds go behind to an own goal. They'll get no sympathy from Derby, though, who are rewarded for their more attacking approach.

"I like the look of Leeds midfielder Lewis Cook, he is definitely one for the future. If he can continue his progression, I can see him moving for big money like Fabian Delph did."

Three attempts each but not a shot on target at the iPro. Tells you all you need to know. Jordon Ibe tries to change this with a driving run down the left and low cross but Liam Cooper is on hand to clear for Leeds. Cooper is there again soon after to clear a Cyrus Christie cross from the opposite side. They are much better clearances than his attempted one on Boxing Day that saw him chest a cross from Wigan's James McClean into his own net.

"We have had 30 seconds of everyone flying in to each other. It is all fair and square. Two committed teams on show tonight, no doubt about that. You can see this Leeds team enjoy playing for Neil Redfearn."

The heat rises in the iPro as Rodolph Austin flies in on Chris Martin and concedes a foul. Leeds need to be careful here. They have chucked themselves into a couple of risky tackles and this task will be much, much harder with just 10 men.

Johnny Russell is back up and threatening the Leeds goal with a curling effort from the edge of the box. His effort strikes Gaetano Berardi, though, and the away side are able to clear. Derby are still the more proactive but Leeds are not really in any danger at the moment.

Tommy Smith, just three yards from the goal-line, scoops the ball over Neil Etheridge to give promotion-chasing Ipswich the lead.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:17 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2014

Leeds' Alex Mowatt goes into the book for a late, lunging tackle on Johnny Russell. The ball was long gone and the yellow is fully deserved.

Sheffield Wednesday have soaked up smatterings of Wigan pressure so far but they break and Atdhe Nuhiu almost slides the ball into the net from Jacques Maghoma's centre but the ball was cleared off the line by Ivan Ramis.

A slick break away and heart in mouth time for Malky Mackay.

"There was no-one near Derby's Jordon Ibe. The referee was on the spot but gave no penalty or booking. It looked like a dive. Giuseppe Bellusci is giving him a right mouthful after that."

Lewis Cook shows just why he is so highly rated with a driving, penetrating run through the middle of the Derby midfield. But he also shows some naivety by holding on to the ball a tad too long when he had support and is robbed. Soon after, down the other end Jordon Ibe throws himself to the turf in the box in what replays show is an obvious dive. He doesn't get a penalty. Doesn't get a booking, though, either.

Alex Mowatt forces Leeds' first corner. It is a chance for the away side, who have forced a foothold into this game. It is swung in to the six-yard box but headed clear by Cyrus Christie. Leeds come again through Sam Byram but Jordon Ibe does superbly to track back and slide in to stop Byram putting over a threatening cross.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson has been Charlton's most threatening player in this half, but the visitors have yet to truly test the Ipswich defence.

A rare Leeds venture into the Derby box ends before it has even really begun as Mirco Antenucci is easily brushed off the ball. You suspect the away side won't get many chances tonight so they will need to make more of openings like that.

"Leeds are holding out at the minute. Derby are putting more and more pressure, they are the ones in the ascendancy. If you are Derby, you can be brave by pushing the full-backs on. Midfielders Jeff Hendrick and Will Hughes need to get into the box."

Wigan's James McClean sees an effort from range bravely blocked by Glenn Loovens and though the home side force a couple of corners, Sheffield Wednesday manager Stuart Gray will be encouraged with this solid early start.

Wednesday are handy on the road, with just two league defeats away from home this season.

Mirco Antenucci scored both of Leeds' goals in the 2-0 win over Derby at Elland Road last month and he has his side's first shot tonight after latching on to a pass from Souleymane Doukara. Unfortunately for Leeds, the Italian's radar is off and the ball flies wide of the Derby goal.

  18. Postpublished at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2014

Cyrus Christie is getting very far forward for the home side. He picks up the ball near the edge of the Leeds box and cuts inside before firing a shot high and wide. Poor effort but good positive intent from the full-back.

Marco Silvestre almost gets his team into trouble with a punch from a cross from Cyrus Christie that allows Jordon Ibe to collect and return into the box. Chris Martin has a sniff but Leeds are able to regain possession and clear. Not the most confident of moments for the away keeper.

15 minutes gone at the iPro and barring a few little scares, Leeds will be reasonably pleased with what has gone on. They have conceded two-thirds of possession but have not been on the rack and look well organised.
