  1. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2014

All change. Everton make a double substitution as midfield pair Leon Osman and Aidan McGeady replace Samuel Eto'o and Kevin Mirallas. That doesn't appear to be the most offensive of double changes. But who am I to question Roberto Martinez's tactical wisdom.

Spurs are banging heavily on that Everton door now - like an angry bailiff. Ryan Mason slashes a long-range shot wide.

  3. CLOSE!published at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2014

Almost a second for Spurs! Defender Federico Fazio is a size 11 boot away from cleanly connecting with Christian Eriksen's teasing cross. The Dane's ball goes straight down the corridor of uncertainty between Everton keeper Tim Howard and his defence, but the Toffees survive.

Vlad Chiriches is walking the disciplinary tightrope now. The Spurs right-back goes into the book for a wild swipe.

"Everton have had more of the ball but they look a little bit exposed down the middle when Tottenham break. There is a little bit of space between Gareth Barry and Sylvain Distin you feel Spurs might exploit.

"We cannot criticise the man in black today, mainly because the referee is actually in a green shirt, but when you have two teams of contrasting styles and one playing on the counter, the officials do so well to keep up."

Wonder what the pre-match odds for a Roberto Soldado brace were? The Spanish striker looks a different man as he heads wide Ben Davies' cross. Close, but not close enough.

Who needs patient passing football when you can lump the ball forward? Spurs go route one - a la Wimbledon - as a long ball from Vlad Chiriches splits apart the napping Everton defence.

Roberto Soldado does his best Alan Cork impression as he gamely chases, but the speedy Seamus Coleman nips across to clear the danger.

Still Everton prod and probe as Spurs can barely get out of their own half. Toffees midfielder Gareth Barry spots Seamus Coleman skulking at the far post, but the England man's delivery is too strong for the Irishman.

Can the Saints still keep up their pressure on the top four?

After Chelsea failed to beat Sunderland again, 606 want to know - who is your side's bogey team?

"The biggest problem for Tottenham, even though they played so well in that first half, will be maintaining their intensity against an Everton side that have slightly greater experience. It will be interesting to see if they can."

Everton start the second half confidently, neatly keeping possession as they build from the back. But Seamus Coleman's wayward cross from the right flank flies over everyone gathered in the Spurs box.

The Spurs gather in the tunnel as they wait for captain Hugo Lloris to lead them back on to the White Hart Lane pitch. Roberto Soldado struts out at least three inches taller after that goal.

David Whale: It's great to see the transformation of Harry Kane with a bit of confidence. Not the finished article but getting there!

Allan Mugane: I wish Christian Eriksen had made it to Merseyside. Like Luka Modric and Gareth Bale he is two or three classes up on all his team-mates.

Tomer Tsur: Roberto Soldado scoring? Yeah OK it's time to wake up...

Ahmed Bhana: Finally Soldado scores! About time. Hope he goes on a run of goals now and gets people get off his back.

Chris Beattie: Best I've seen Tottenham play since we had Luka Modric and Scott Parker in the middle! Slick passing, pace, intent, pressing and composure.

"Good to see Spurs finally giving the Roberto Soldado they bought from Valencia a chance, rather than that imposter that's been wearing the shirt."

"Although this game has been quite evenly matched, Tottenham have had more attempts on goal than Everton and that is largely down to Harry Kane, who has been shooting on sight. I'm so pleased for him, he has taken to first team football like a duck to water.

"I've also been very impressed with Federico Fazio, he's been very controlled at the back. He was very much a Mauricio Pochettino signing and this is the first game where he has looked comfortable."
