Another long range attempt from the hosts. This time Dusan Tadic goes close. Impressive start by the Saints.
Change for Southampton at the stat of the second half as Japan defender Maya Yoshida replaces midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, who has suffered a thigh injury. Toby Alderweireld moves further forward and goes close with along range attempt in the opening moments.
Back under way.
England manager Roy Hodgson is at St Mary's. He will have liked what he has seen so far. It's been pretty entertaining for a 0-0. Here come the players.
Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse:, external "With Sam Gallagher watching the game! Come on boys! Let's have a win!"
John: "The turnaround at Southampton has been incredible given the playing squad that was dismantled in the summer and with losing their manager as well. The fact that they are able to challenge and compete with last season's Premier League champions is nothing short of extraordinary. Hats off to you lads, you certainly don't look out of place at this level."
Arron Goshawk: Southampton are doing to Manchester City what Sunderland did to Chelsea yesterday! Frustrate them, but then steal a goal or two.
Edward Layland: Saints look very disciplined. Keep shape well and don't panic. Top four material.
John: What does Gary Lineker mean by "know your players"? (see 40 mins) Should referees base decisions on past behaviour or what they see on pitch?

Everton on Twitter, external: Under two hours until kick-off here at White Hart Lane. Team news at 3pm.
Tom, Bedford: I feel sorry for the ref. Sergio Aguero has been fouled (see 9 mins), but not in a way that warrants the theatrics. Referees now have to distinguish between a straight foul, a straight dive, and a foul with a bit of a dive thrown in.
Chris Jones: The ref should be 100% sure a player is trying to con him to book them for diving. Not giving a blatant penalty is understandable. He may have missed it. But booking Aguero is awful refereeing!
BBC Radio Manchester summariser Fred Eyre at St Mary's Stadium
"With the chances Manchester City have had, 0-0 is not the right scoreline. We are agreed that City should have had a penalty rather than a booking for Sergio Aguero for diving. But Southampton have had good chances too. The two teams should be level but they both should have scored one each."
Mike Jones blows his whistle, picks up the ball and heads towards the tunnel. Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini isn't waiting. He's off to deliver his team talk. City need to step up if they want to win this.
Two minutes of stoppage time. The question is: Will Manuel Pellegrini wait for referee Mike Jones?
The earlier drama has been replaced by two teams content to play down the clock as the interval approaches. Inspiring words required from Ronald Koeman and Manuel Pellegrini at half-time.
This game is crying out for one moment of quality. Will it be Sergio Aguero or Graziano Pelle who obliges?
BBC Radio Manchester summariser Fred Eyre at St Mary's Stadium
"Both teams have taken their foot off the gas ever so slightly before the break, they are both just trying to keep possession when they get it. Very few teams can keep the ball as well as Manchester City. They are not hurried in any way, but just control their passing looking for an opening."
City have completed 215 passes with five minutes of the first half remaining. Sadly, their set-pieces are not proving effective. Another corner fails to find a blue shirt.

"Appalling decision. Blatant penalty against Sergio Aguero (see 9 mins). Know your players referee. Mr Jones is having an absolute shocker."
It might be goalless but this is fascinating. City are clearly aggrieved not to have won a penalty and are pumped up. Southampton are starting to carve out chances. How long will this stay 0-0?
