  1. Who would be a manager?published at 19:08 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2015

    How times change.

At the start of the season if you had predicted one of these managers would be coming under increasing pressure just into 2015, while the other would have his side challenging for Europe, you would probably have got it the wrong way round.

It is West Ham's Sam Allardyce, who clung to his job last season, who is exceeding expectations and Everton's Roberto Martinez, Mr Popular last season, facing growing criticism.

Could an FA Cup run - or lack of one - change their fortunes?

James Sanders:, external Can't see West Ham winning this. Arguably without more first-teamers than Everton with an atrocious record at Goodison.

While Wembley may still be a long way off for all the FA Cup survivors, the home of English football is just two legs away for a couple of teams this evening.

League One high-flyers Bristol City travel to their fellow third-tier side Gillingham in the first leg of the Southern Area Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final.

The winners over two legs get a trip to Wembley, making this the big game for two parts of the country this evening...

  4. Fourth round drawpublished at 19:01 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2015

    FA Cup draw

Fans of Bristol City and Doncaster will be watching Everton's third-round tie at home to West Ham with interest, with the winners of that replay drawn against one of the Premier League sides.

For League One Chesterfield and Scunthorpe, the winners have a trip to Championship high-flyers Derby County. Not a great incentive it has to be said.

Have a look at the full fourth-round draw here or you can watch it again.

  5. Everton without Bainespublished at 18:57 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2015

Everton are without England left-back Leighton Baines, who has a minor injury according to Toffees boss Roberto Martinez.

Everton XI: Robles, Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Oviedo, Barry, Besic, Naismith, Barkley, Mirallas, Lukaku.

  6. No Carroll for Hammerspublished at 18:54 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2015

Towering striker Andy Carroll is missing from the West Ham starting line-up at Goodison Park as boss Sam Allardyce makes four changes.

West Ham: Adrian, Reid, Cresswell, Nolan (c), Jarvis, Downing, Noble, Jenkinson, Collins, Amalfitano, Valencia.

  7. Song's situationpublished at 18:54 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2015

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce says the club are unsure whether Alex Song will play for Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations. He says the midfielder is with the squad ahead of the tournament. A strange situation.

Neil from Bournemouth on text: Everton must put in a performance tonight, injuries or no injuries we have enough quality to give West Ham a game. I'm glad that the FA Cup fixture comes before the Man City game on Sat. We need some confidence so a win would be good.

  11. Gerrard to LA Galaxypublished at 18:46 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2015

Another big bit of news in the world of football is that Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard is on the brink of finalising an 18-month deal to join Los Angeles Galaxy.

The 34-year-old will sign a contract worth about £6m across the full term of the deal, making him one of the highest earners in Major League Soccer.

An announcement is expected this week following Friday's shock news that Gerrard will quit Liverpool at the end of the season. After his match-winning contribution against AFC Wimbledon last night, there may be a few Reds fearing that moment when Stevie G departs.

  12. Bony to Manchester City?published at 18:43 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2015

    Garry Monk

It is thought that it would take more than £30m to prise the Ivory Coast striker Wilfried Bony, 26, from the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea manager Garry Monk has said it will take an "astronomical" fee to secure Bony in the January transfer window.

  13. Bony to Manchester City?published at 18:40 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2015

    Wilfried Bony

Away from the FA Cup for a brief moment though - after all we are into the January transfer window.

Swansea fans might want to cover their eyes because it appears as though Premier League champions Manchester City are in advanced talks with the Swans about the possibility of signing their top scorer Wilfried Bony.

The Ivorian is taking part in the Africa Cup of Nations for the next month but whose shirt will he be coming back to?

Good evening. The eagerly-awaited third round started on Friday night when Cardiff saw off Colchester to become the first club in the hat in the fourth round.

Since then we have had 29 third-round matches, a couple of shocks, some heroic failure and a fourth-round draw pitching the lowest club left in the competition - Cambridge United - with Manchester United.

After waiting patiently for the last four days, tonight is the turn of Everton v West Ham and Scunthorpe v Chesterfield. For two it will be cup joy for the others it will be time to concentrate on the league.
