"I've been very disappointed with City. We know Barcelona are talented but City needed to come out of the blocks quickly. They've looked half-hearted. Barcelona have flooded the midfield, Messi has come in off the left and they've totally dominated it."

"Barca been outstanding and dominated from kick-off. City have to got to look after the ball better. You're talking about the best team in England and they can't put four or five passes together."

  3. Football League updatepublished at 20:34 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

Normal service in the Championship. Leaders Derby lead Charlton 2-0 at half-time, while second-placed Middlesbrough have stepped up the chase with a goal against Bolton - Albert Adomah putting them 1-0 up. Fourth-placed Ipswich also lead, courtesy of Tyrone Mings' header against Birmingham.

Bottom two clubs Blackpool and Wigan are both losing, while Millwall, who occupy the other relegation place, are holding Sheffield Wednesday 0-0.

In League One, leaders Bristol City are 2-0 up on Doncaster, Greg Cunningham adding the second from the spot. Swindon look set to end Bradford's unbeaten run - they lead 2-0 thanks to Massimo Luongo's brace.

It's not all going to form though - in League Two, Josh Windass has put Accrington 1-0 up against leaders Burton.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:34 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

That is about as comprehensive a first half as you can get from Barcelona. They have been better in just about every area of the pitch.

After watching City hammer Newcastle at the weekend, I can't help but wonder what this Barca side would do to the rest of the Premier League. Simply awesome.

  5. CLOSE!published at 20:32 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

City's first real chance of the match as David Silva feeds Samir Nasri on the edge of the penalty area but his curled side-footed shot is easy for goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen to parry away. A shot on goal at least.

  6. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

Some shocking defending almost sees Barcelona 3-0 up. The ball cannons off James Milner to set Dani Alves racing through on goal. The Brazilian looks up and chips the advancing Joe Hart but the woodwork saves City.

Tevez to Pogba to Morata - goal. Who needs possession? Dortmund were pulled apart like a Christmas cracker. Tevez, bull-like, feeds Pogba in a wide area and his left-foot cross is low and tantalisingly too good for the away defence as Morata applies a side-foot finish from 10 yards. He is unmarked but onside.

If City are to get themselves back into this, how important would a goal before half time be? It hasn't looked likely but it only takes a second...

  9. Postpublished at 20:27 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

City finally enjoy some pressure as Barcelona struggle to clear. Edin Dzeko has a shot from 20 yards blocked as the home fans start to raise their voices again. 'Come on City' is the cry'. Well it is until Gael Clichy sends a woeful cross over the goal from the left.

"The way they slow the game down, and go quick again, they just dictate the pace all the time. The movement is fantastic and, I have to say, this game should be over."

Richard Hughes: First time I've seen Barca this season. Shocked by how good they are considering I haven't heard too much hype about them so far.

Joe Maloney: Barca are still a joke... Messi unbelievable there! Absolute feetabix.

William Packwood: Barca are looking very impressive tonight. City look five yards off the pace all over the pitch. Could be a few goals tonight.

Luis Suarez proving once again why so many Premier League defenders would have happily waved him on the plane to Barcelona when he left Liverpool. Always on the move, always looking for the opening. He is making life a complete misery for Manchester City - and their captain Vincent Kompany in particular.

The visitors are running riot. Neymar plays a perfectly-weighted pass for Lionel Messi but, after a decent touch inside the penalty area, Joe Hart bravely gets down to smother.

  15. Football League updatepublished at 20:21 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

No respite for Blackpool at the bottom of the Championship. Two Jon Toral goals in three minutes have put them 2-0 down at Brentford and staring at defeat number 19 of the season.

In the night's big grudge match, it's Cardiff who have taken the lead at Wigan through Aron Gunnarsson - bad news for Latics boss Malky Mackay, who left Cardiff in acrimonious circumstances. The Cardiff board are reportedly boycotting that match in protest at alleged racism at Wigan.

In League One, it's going with the formbook - Swindon, Preston and Sheffield United, who occupy third, fourth and fifth place in the table, are all 1-0 up after half an hour.

The Etihad is stunned. Their side haven't done a lot wrong though, Barcelona are just untouchable at the moment. This could be game over very soon, if things don't change.

"That was just absolutely fantastic football. They believe in their ability and touch. It looks easy, but it's not. The weight of very pass is fantastic and Luis Suarez is alert.

"The gulf between the teams - Barcelona are streets ahead."

I'll bet those City fans are regretting those jeers now. Lionel Messi makes Pablo Zabaleta look daft as he steps past him before slipping the ball into Jordi Alba on the left. His low cross is turned home by Luis Suarez for his second. It is so, so, easy.

Manchester City look as though they could cause Barcelona problems aerially - that is if they actually ever get hold of the ball. It is slim pickings for them so far.
