Tottenham appear to have identified the threat of Jamal Campbell-Ryce on the right and have nullified it in this half, meaning Sheffield United are having to switch their attacks to the other flank, where they are not having much joy. There looks to be movement on the Tottenham bench, Roberto Soldado preparing to come on.

Craig Scott, London: Alright Poch, Emmanuel Adebayor has had a go, it's not working. Harry Kane back to a central role with Roberto Soldado feeding. No time left to experiment in this match.

Not much to report from the Nou Camp so far. Perhaps the most notable incident was a curling shot from outside the area by Neymar but his effort was saved Oblak in the Atletico goal.

Tottenham are not helping themselves by making mistakes. Jamie Murphy pressures Benjamin Stambouli who gives away the ball and Sheffield United win a corner. Headed away.

Jay McEveley is booked as he slides in on Andros Townsend, sweeping the Tottenham man off his feet. Free-kick on the edge of the area for Spurs, which Christian Eriksen pings in but the ball hits the legs of a Sheffield United player and the chance is gone.

  7. Championship updatepublished at 21:11 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2015

Is there a Nottingham Forest comeback on the cards at Craven Cottage? A first-half Ross McCormack hat-trick put Fulham 3-0 up but Henri Lansbury has just got his second of the night to make it 3-2. In the night's other Championship game, Brighton are 3-1 up at home to Ipswich.

"I am delighted to see Harry Kane has come off the left wing and has been moved in behind Emmanuel Adebayor where he is much more dangerous. Mauricio Pochettino must have been listening to us. Fair play to him, he has not been stubborn and has said: 'Get back in there Harry and get us a goal.'"

  10. Postpublished at 21:09 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2015

Mauricio Pochettino agrees with pretty much anyone who has been watching this game and has decided to play Harry Kane play central, behind Emmanuel Adebayor.

    This managing lark is easy.

Sheffield Untied start the second off as they did the first, putting Tottenham under pressure immediately. A quick counter sees the Blades win a corner when Jamie Murphy's cross is deflected behind, but Spurs survive the set-piece.

England boss Roy Hodgson is watching on from the stands tonight. Not sure there are many performances that will give him reason to scribble down some notes in his notebook. Tottenham need to step it up in the second half.

  15. Championship updatepublished at 21:01 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2015

It's half-time at White Hart Lane because of the earlier delay to kick-off, but tonight's Championship fixtures have already got under way for the second half. Brighton are leading title hopefuls Ipswich 3-1, and Fulham are beating Nottingham Forest by the same scoreline.

"I am not happy about seeing Harry Kane out on the left-hand side. It makes no sense to me - he is a real threat in front of goal and has scored so many already this season. The England manager Roy Hodgson is here tonight, so Kane will be frustrated. I can understand that Mauricio Pochettino needs to get Emmanuel Adebayor playing football, and to get him on side, but it is not happening tonight anyway. There is a real lack of fitness, and a lack of sharpness."

Harry Hopwood: Sheffield United are holding their shape really well, proving tough to break down. The question is whether they can do it for 90 minutes.

Lee Hounslow: Proving our fringe players not up to the job and Emmanuel Adebayor captain? Baffling! Mauricio Pochettino to make changes me think.

Tottenham have had more of the possession and the only shot on target, but Mauricio Pochettino will be far from happy. He'll want this tie wrapped up in this leg and give himself the luxury of being able to rest a few more players for the return leg.

For me, Emmanuel Adebayor as the lone striker, and Harry Kane stranded wide left is not working. Kane has failed to score in just three of his previous nine games, and Pochettino needs to make more of that threat tonight.

"Sheffield United have impressed me. The biggest credit I can give them is that you cannot tell which team is the Premier League side. They have all done their homework and look comfortable. They have probably had the better of the chances too. Jamal Campbell-Ryce looks a real danger, and if the visitors can just keep getting the ball to him out wide, the chances will come."

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:48 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2015

The whistle goes and so far so good for Sheffield United. They've competed well with their Premier League opponents and limited Tottenham's threat to a couple of set pieces.
