Rui Aguas - the Cape Verde manager - is protesting with officials...he thinks his side should have a penalty.

Heldon collects a beautiful ball from Nuno Rocha and he turns into the box but is felled. Is it inside the area though? No. A free-kick only and replays show that it is a fantastic decision.

Nice to see a goalkeeper pluck a cross out of the air confidently as Vozinha does for Cape Verde. He then launches the Blue Sharks on a counter attack and Babanco feeds Djaniny who is well placed to shoot or cross...he does a bit of both and it drifts wide.

    Adebayor

Taleb Rabah:, external Best African player of all time has to be George Weah...the guy won the Ballon d'Or.

Adam Best:, external Best African player Samuel Eto'o worst player Emmanuel Adebayor.

  4. CLOSE!published at 19:32 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

Cape Verde striker Heldon bravely heads past a defender and is away in the inside-right channel. He slides the ball through the legs of Syam Ben Youssef and there is Djaniny to apply the finish...no... his shot is tame and saved at the second attempt. Another good opening.

Tunisia spent the first night of their stay in Ebebeyin without electricity and they haven't found a major spark here yet (sorry).

For those of you awaiting the answer - Cape Verde sit 40th in Fifa's world rankings. That is higher than Poland, Norway and Sweden.

  6. Postpublished at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

This has the feel of classic tournament football opener for both teams. Quite cautious with the odd flurry of activity. Well poised though and tough to pick which side are better drilled early on. The tight nature makes that missed free header by Cape Verde's Fernando Varela all the more costly.

Tunisia are ranked 22nd in Fifa's world rankings. I'll be surprised if you can guess Cape Verde's position to within five places. That comes next...it surprised me.

Kuca likes that left channel and runs onto a pass...checks in the area and curls a cross towards Heldon in the six yard box but full-back Ali Maaloul is well positioned for Tunisia and hooks clear.

  10. CLOSE!published at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

Lovely strike by Cape Verde number nine Kuca. The tricky looking front man - who plays for Portugal's Estoril - cuts in from the left flank and wants to shoot right footed. He drives an effort through bodies and it almost sneaks in the near post but for a tip by the goalkeeper.

  11. CLOSE!published at 19:16 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

Ahmed Akaïchi will not let us rest for a second. A chipped cross from deep sees him a mile offside - not given - and his header is low and prompts a diving save by Vozinha - the 28-year-old Cape Verde keeper.

    Emile Heskey and Ahmed Akaichi

Right on cue my man...right on cue. No sooner have I compared Ahmed Akaïchi's willingness to run to Emile Heskey, does he smash a right-wing cross high, wide and deep into the stands. That was clinically bad.

  13. Ouchpublished at 19:11 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

This Ebebeyin pitch was like a battlefield late in our last match and it starts the same way. The brilliantly named Babanco is decked for Cape Verde. Someone has 'gone through the back of him' as you'd say in Sunday league and he is holding his calf.

Jonny Jennings:, external Why the hate on Benjani?! His goal for Man City v United in 2008 is legendary!!!

Well we can see the willing runner in this Tunisia team - Ahmed Akaichi. The number 19 again causes problems down the left by chasing a lost cause to win a corner. I wonder if he is the Tunisian version of Emile Heskey?

Countless players seemed to love playing with big Emile for his willingness to graft.

Tunisia have a somewhat deep and meaningful nickname: 'Les Aigles de Carthage' which translates to the Eagles of Carthage.

    A bit heavy for me.

  17. CLOSE!published at 19:05 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

Tunisia were undone there with a straight set-piece delivery but a ball over the top almost gets them in. It's Ahmed Akaichi in the left-hand channel and he volleys across goal but no one can apply a finish. It was a good ball across the six-yard box.

  18. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 19:02 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

What a chance. Eight yards..unmarked...centre of the goal..glancing header...Fernando Varela...hits the foot of the post.

Cape Verde's Steaua Bucharest defender should have punished Tunisia.

  19. KICK-OFFpublished at 19:01 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

Tunisia boss Georges Leekens stands with one hand on his chin, glasses on, he looks pensive...we're off.

Tracksuit and polo shirt mix never does it for me though. It's too Tony Pulis and he doesn't even wear a peak-cap to add a rugged edge.

  20. A blue shock?published at 18:58 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2015

Officials check the goal nets..always a good idea. Tunisia, in all white, stand over the ball on the centre spot. Cape Verde, all in blue, shocked everyone in 2013 to reach the quarter-finals. Again?
