I did say Kenny Jackett would be proud to see his Wolves charge Bakary Sako play well, he may now want him to calm it or offers may land on the Molyneux doorstep.

Sako blows away his marker on the break, opens his legs, he's motoring, but his shot from an angle is again parried out. Superb play by the 26-year-old.

Amo-shi:, external Moussa Sow, sensational impact player, but got to go for Gabon's Pierre Aubameyang, seems destined to put to rest 2013 ghosts.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 19:24 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2015

A number of the players on show here are sporting haircuts which have detailed lines shaved into the design. I thought that fad ended around 10 years ago?

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting of Schalke has a lash from range...all wrong. And we have our first booking...Mamoutou N'Diaye of Mali for a silly shirt tug.

  5. CLOSE!published at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2015

Vincent Aboubakar is slipped in for Cameroon - their talisman can shoot...brilliantly tackled. From the break down he floats a cross in and a header on goal is smartly tipped over. Better from Cameroon.

BBC Sport's Ed Harry in Malabo: Just been outside talking to Ivory Coast fans. One man, eyes almost scrunched shut like he was in pain, told us he was unhappy because his team hadn't played to win - they'd played to draw. I'd say they were very lucky to get the point. Hope he has more cheerful days ahead.

So many fans streamed out after the final whistle in the opening game, and yet the stadium is still so full that supporters are standing. How oversold was this fixture? Great atmosphere and thankfully everyone on their best behaviour.

Cameroon will have to make a change. Eyong Enoh is hobbling off an Frank Kom comes on. Enoh kicks the turf, he is fuming.

Bold call here. This game will not be our first scoreless one of the tournament. End-to-end with lots of space opening up. Mali the better side so far.

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett will be encouraged by the start Sako has made. He whips an in-swinging cross into the box and the goalkeeper is out of his goal...open net at the back stick...headed wide by Mustapha Yatabare. Wonderful chance.

Cameroon have injury issues and are readying someone on the bench.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 19:11 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2015

Beautiful stuff from Mali. Seydou Keita starts a move on halfway, finding Bakary Sako and his one-two gives shooting space. The Wolves man opts for power...smash..brilliantly palmed around the post.

Drissa Diakite has started like a man game for battle here. Another tackle, he goes to ground again. Why do something standing up when you can slide around?

He may have ended Lyon defender Henri Bedimo's night early. Hobbling with the help of physio.

We start frenetically, ball pinging around, Drissa Diakite with a strong and well-timed tackle on Cameroon's Ambroise Oyongo.

Wolves fans - I hope you're supporting Bakary Sako - he gets a good cross in and forces a corner. Bright start, bright yellow shirts. Mali operating a 4-4-2.

No Cameroon international can pass without a tilt of the hat to some 1990 moments. Thank you Roger Milla for this jig...

    Roger Milla

And thank you Benjamin Massing for a sending off which probably set the high-water mark for football fouls. Your assault on Claudio Caniggia was the pinnacle. The game has been more peaceful since. Without you, the clean game we now have would have no basis for comparison.

We are off and Cameroon start well, a free-kick won high up the pitch. What can we expect from this unpredictable football nation...

We have seen a few passionately sung national anthems so far and Cameroon are right up there. Fans going wild in the stands. That was rousing.

The players emerge from the tunnel here. Mali all in yellow, Cameroon in white tracksuits.

A depressing sight in the crowd as adult supporters use big Vuvuzelas and kids seem to have their own mini versions. The youth of today...

Who else thought the Vuvuzela ceased to exist after it's all too memorable debut at the 2010 World Cup?

  17. GET INVOLVEDpublished at 18:51 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2015

  18. Pre-match testingpublished at 18:49 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2015

As in all of the matches at Afcon 2015 so far, we will see a moment of silence before kick-off to honour those killed in the Ebola Virus epidemic in west Africa.

this humbling picture of a lady being tested for the infection while entering a stadium today has just appeared in our system. It's tough to comprehend...

  19. How did we get here?published at 18:47 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2015

Mali reached Afcon 2015 with just nine points in their group. They won three and lost as many, but banked on Ethiopia and Malawi being worse than them as Algeria took top spot.
