A free-kick on halfway is quickly taken by Burkina and the ball is played up to Jonathan Pitroipa, who bears down on goal menacingly with some tricky stepovers, but Francis N'Ganga does really well to shut the door on him.

Daniel Woodley: The opening 22 minutes has summed up the whole tournament so far... Disappointing

Not sure which game D-Wood is watching but neither have been classics so far admittedly.

Gabon's class is just starting to show and striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, probably one of the fastest players in the world, is becoming increasingly influential.

However as I write that Andre Poko shoots ridiculously wide from 30 yards out.

Mwanza Chengo Alexis: Fancy Gabon and Burkina Faso to go through. The have had awesome feet in Aubameyang and Traore respectively.

  5. CLOSE!published at 18:22 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

Huge chance for Congo! Against the run of play, Delvin N'Dinga threads a gorgeous pass to Thievy Bifouma down the inside-left channel but the striker sends his low shot just past the post. A big let-off for Burkina Faso - that goal would have left them facing a real uphill battle.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 18:21 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

Fantastic save from Equatorial Guinea keeper Felipe Ovono to keep his team level. Frederic Bulot crosses into Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, whose bullet header is well kept out by Ovono.

In case you've noticed, both teams have a keeper called Ovono. This isn't going to get confusing...

BBC Sport's Nick Cavell in Bata

"The noise inside this Estadio de Bata every time the home team get into the area is incredible - there is shouting and the rhythmic stamping of feet on the metal floors around the stadium."

Inches. Equatorial Guinea are inches from taking the lead as Javier Balboa crosses into Raul Fabiani, who just has to turn it home from close range but defender Bruno Ecuele Manga, of Cardiff City, tackles him at just the right moment.

The resulting corner is poor and comes to nothing.

Burkina left-back Issa Gouo is guilty of a real Sunday league moment as he trips over the football. Striker Jonathan Pitroipa is trying to stretch the Congo back line but he needs to time his runs better - he's already been caught offside three times.

BBC Sport's Nick Cavell in Bata

"Silly foul by Johann Obiang who'll miss the quarter-final if his team win and go through today."

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 18:16 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

Gabon get into the opposition box for almost the first time as Johann Obiang finds star man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who plays the ball back to the defender who is offside.

Seconds later, Obiang is booked for fouling Kike with a sliding tackle from behind.

BBC Sport's Matthew Kenyon in Ebebiyin

"Not full here but massive noise from the Burkinabe fans. I think they're drowning out the Congolese - but that's just because I'm closer to the Burkinabe. My right ear will need a rest by the end of the night. Alain Traore such a vital man for the Stallions - and remember they missed him for much of SA 2013 because of injury, and still got to the final!"

To say that Equatorial Guinea's squad are nomadic would be an understatement.

Whereas Gabon's squad have Borussia Dortmund, Marseille and Braga players, their opponents earn their money in lands like Andorra, Cyprus, Gibraltar, India, Hong Kong and Malta.

Now it's Burkina's turn to swing in a corner, and Christopher Mafoumbi doesn't deal with it at all convincingly. The keeper is in no-man's land as Mohammed Koffi gets his head to it, but the Burkina right-back doesn't make clean contact.

  17. Postpublished at 18:09 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

Razak Traore of Karabukspor in Turkey, one of the new faces in the Burkina team tonight, tests Christopher Mafoumbi with a low skiddy shot. Congo then break downfield and a dangerous cross from Thievy Bifouma forces Steeve Yagou to turn behind. The corner is punched to safety by Germain Sanou. All-action start in Ebebiyin.

BBC Sport's Nick Cavell in Bata

"Gabon coach Jorge Costa is livid at that decision as he walks out of his technical area to remonstrate with the fourth official.

"In fact the whole Gabon technical team are having a 'word' or two with the fourth official."

  19. Postpublished at 18:09 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

Javier Balboa just drives the free-kick over, a wasted chance for Equatorial Guinea, who need to win to go through and dump Gabon out.

Bizarre as Didier Ovono, the Gabon goalkeeper, conceded a free-kick just outside his box for handling as he cleared the ball. But it looked as if he had dropped the ball to kick it before it was outside the box. He's been hard done by there.
