What a goal! Andy Carroll is like the Incredible Hulk as he muscles through a crowd of defenders surrounding him and then lashes a left-footed shot into the top corner. He then gestures to the Swansea supporters who had been giving him grief. You don't want to make him angry...

Clinical. Chelsea show why they are where they are in the league by taking the lead even though they have been second best. A quick corner by Willian is played to Branislav Ivanovic, who then crosses low into the area and the ball runs through a crowd of players to the unmarked Oscar, who slots home.

More bad news for Hull boss Steve Bruce as his attacking options, already hampered by Nikica Jelavic's earlier withdrawal because of injury, are hit further as this time Abel Hernandez goes down. Off he goes and on comes Tom Ince.

Hull respond to the setbacks well, though, as Robbie Brady fizzes an effort at goal, forcing a stunning fingertip save out of Ben Foster.

  4. CLOSE!published at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January 2015

Patience nearly pays off for Swansea. The hosts probe around the West Ham box until Nathan Dyer spots a pass, threading a low cross in towards Gylfi Sigurdsson. The Iceland international gets his sidefoot volley all wrong though, the ball glancing harmless off his instep.

He doesn't do much better when from Dyer's pull-back a minute later either - a weak shot trundling straight to Adrian - but the Swans are getting closer.

Burnley back in front, but terrible defending from QPR. It's a hopeful ball into the box and Danny Ings holds off Steven Caulker before nutmegging Richard Dunne with a scuffed shot which dribbles over the line.

BBC Sport's Chris Bevan at Turf Moor

"Charlie Austin might be mates with the Turf Moor car-park attendant but the Burnley fans do not seem to like their former striker much - they were booing him before he went down in the box for QPR's penalty and he is even less popular after getting up to convert it - those chants of 'cheat, cheat, cheat' are still ringing out around the ground whenever he touches the ball, although there did not seem much doubt about the spot-kick decision to me."

  7. CLOSE!published at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January 2015

Chelsea are really struggling to deal with the guile and creativity of Remy Cabella and only a superb save by Petr Cech denies the forward after he is put through on goal. Moments later, Moussa Sissoko races into acres of space on the right and lashes a shot against the upright.

The hosts are hanging on a bit, and to make matters worse they are forced into a change as Cesar Azpilicueta goes off with a groin injury, Filipe Luis replaces him.

  8. CLOSE!published at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January 2015

Eduardo Vargas - or the little Chilean lad as Harry Redknapp calls him - chests the ball down on the edge of the area and volleys towards goal but Tom Heaton makes an acrobatic save. Good effort.

    Garth Crooks on Final Score

"It was a soft penalty. Dean Marney has no business dangling his foot like that in the box. You can't afford to be clumsy in the box."

Oldham have had one of the highest-profile weeks in their history following their interest in Ched Evans, but it might end on a better note with Jabo Ibehre putting them 1-0 ahead against mid-table rivals Doncaster.

Veteran Walsall defender James Chambers has scored an own goal to give Scunthorpe the lead.

Crewe lead relegation rivals Gillingham, who are currently under a four-man caretaker manager set-up, 2-0. Nicky Ajose and Harry Davis have got the goals.

Yeovil, who are bottom of the table, are down to 10 men at Barnsley for an off-the-ball incident.

Shot on goal at The Hawthorns, although more of a pass really. Saido Berahino rolling an effort from 20 yards straight at Allan McGregor. Berahino does better soon after, wrong-footing a defender just outside the area and guiding an effort towards the bottom corner, but McGregor saves.

A blow for Hull soon after as Nikica Jelavic, the Tigers' top scorer, goes off injured and Robbie Brady replaces him.

A big run up, a right boot through the ball and Charlie Austin hammers the spot-kick past Tom Heaton. The striker then wheels away in celebration against his former club to chants of 'cheat' from the home supporters. Harsh.

  13. PENALTY FOR QPRpublished at 15:32 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January 2015

Dean Marney trips Charlie Austin in the penalty area. Penalty. No doubts about that.

Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole: "Newcastle are having a right go and have caused Chelsea a few problems. Newcastle have made the better chances. Chelsea have not tested the Newcastle goalkeeper, while Newcastle have tested Petr Cech."

Everton are almost caught on the break - Jesus Navas haring forward and sliding the ball to David Silva but a backtracking Muhamed Besic makes a decisive tackle to deny the Spaniard.

"West Brom the better side and you can tell you are watching a Tony Pulis side - bitterly cold and none of the home side's players are wearing gloves."

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

"Everton striker Romelu Lukaku revealed the players had spoken to manager Roberto Martinez about occasionally adopting a more direct approach but it is over-playing at the back that has caused them problems today as they flirt with danger. As previously mentioned, Aiden McGeady is a frustrating figure and he has become a real target for the Everton fans today. First shout of 'get him off Martinez' inside 25 minutes."

We're 30 minutes in and there's only been one goal in the Premier League. At Goodison, Everton continue to struggle to keep Manchester City quiet and after David Silva is fouled on the edge of the box, Samir Nasri puts a free-kick into the wall. They needed Yaya there.

David Nugent is not letting his poor miss earlier deter him as he pops up with another equally poor effort - this time nodding wide when it was probably easier to score. A frustrated smile and a shake of the head from the Leicester striker.

End-to-end stuff at Stamford Bridge after a slow start from Chelsea as first Yoan Gouffran's stinging strike warms the gloves of Petr Cech before Chelsea quickly go up the other end of the pitch with Nemanja Matic picking out Oscar on the right of the area, but he sends his effort just wide of the far post.
