This is the picture - and performance - that Barcelona fans have been longing to see. The heralded triumvirate of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar finally clicked into gear to end a tumultuous week for the Catalan club on a high.

Barca are back on Thursday when they play Elche in the second leg of their Copa del Rey tie, following on from Atletico's trip to neighbours Real Madrid in the same competition.

So it has been a tale of two managers at the Nou Camp tonight. Barca coach Luis Enrique was supposedly on the ropes after being pounded for recent results and his alleged row with Lionel Messi. But he has surely bought himself more time following that slick display.

However, it is back to the drawing board for Atletico counterpart Diego Simeone. Perhaps two big matches in quick succession - they beat Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday - took its toll on his men.

Defending champions Juventus move three points clear in Italy's Serie A as they beat fourth-placed Napoli in a 3-1 away win.

Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal sealed victory late on after fellow midfielder Paul Pogba and defender Martin Caceres had scored earlier. Miguel Britos had levelled for Rafa Benitez's Napoli.

"Maybe Luis Enrique can bring the glory days back to Barcelona, after all. Messi was dynamite and will get all the headlines, but looking at the bigger picture it's perhaps more important that he was merely one part - albeit the most important part - of a proper team performance. After the week he's had, dragging that kind of collective, organised effort out of his team is quite an achievement for Enrique, and gives him and the team something to build on."

But it is a damaging defeat for current champions Atletico. Diego Simeone's men are three points behind Barca, and four adrift of neighbours Real. Is La Liga now a two-horse race?

Shaky moment for Barca keeper Claudio Bravo, who almost allows Atletico to set up a grandstand finish. He flaps as he tries to claim a free-kick swung into the box, but is saved by the referee's whistle.

"Messi deserved that goal, and after the week that Barca have been through it's entirely appropriate that their star man should cap such an influential performance with the game-clincher. He is the undeniable King of the Nou Camp and you wonder if Luis Enrique will have to rethink his relationship with the Argentine. Clearly, he can only be a long-term success if Messi is on his side.

Who else? A beaming smile breaks out across Lionel Messi's face as he caps a mesmeric performance with a goal. The Argentine superstar plays a one-two with Ivan Rakitic inside the Atletico box, gets lucky with a rebound off an away defender, before coolly slipping the ball past Miguel Angel Moya. Game over.

"There are a few signs that Barca are starting to lose their shape, which would be very dangerous against such a well-drilled team as Atletico. It won't be easy as tiredness sets in and Atletico start to take more risks, but Barca need to really concentrate on keeping their positional discipline and organisation. Atletico are looking more and more threatening."
