Yorkshire Steve: Cambridge Rangers WFC had lost 12-1 to Lakenheath Ladies in Cambs County league games. Come cup final day it finishes 1-1 and we win 5-4 on penalties! Lakenheath battered us but we defended heroically and were 1-0 down with 10 minutes left. Went gung-ho and scored a 25-yarder back to 1-1. Rode luck in extra time, and the only bit of advice for penalty shootout was pick your spot now and stick with it! All scored - strong under pressure!

Let's take a little break from our FA Cup reaction and build-up to venture over to Spain because a certain Cristiano Ronaldo has been lashing out.

The 29-year-old is more renowned for his prolific goals but was showing off his fighting skills in Real Madrid's game against Cordoba yesterday.

A kick, a slap, a punch, a red card and some cheeky goading of rival supporters, the Portuguese covered off a number of football crimes on Saturday.

He was dismissed for the ninth time in his career but Real still won thanks to a late Gareth Bale penalty.

Blackburn striker Rudy GestedeImage source, Reuters

Blackburn might be putting a few more pounds on the value of striker Rudy Gestede after his exploits in helping the club knock Swansea out of the FA Cup.

Gestede, who is a target for Premier League club Crystal Palace, came off the bench to put his side 2-1 up before Rovers went on to win 3-1.

"Our aim all along in this window has been to try to hold onto everybody," said Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer.

"The way Rudy's conducted himself with all the speculation has been magnificent. We had no trouble putting him back in the squad and no trouble putting him on.

"We said to him as he was going on, 'Go and score the winner'. It wasn't quite the winner but he made a big impact because that's what he is, a big player for us."

  10. Balotelli on way out?published at 11:56 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

Liverpool striker Mario BalotelliImage source, PA

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli didn't even make the bench for his side's FA Cup fourth-round tie against Bolton and, if the comments by Reds manager Brendan Rodgers are anything to go by, his days at Anfield appear numbered.

"He knows exactly what is required to be in this squad before he can be in the team," says Rodgers.

"It is difficult for him [Balotelli] but he knows the level of [where] this team is at - you see the aggression in our pressing and if you can't do that you are not going to be a part of what this team is trying to achieve.

"We had an hour or so yesterday chatting and he understands where he is at."

  11. Upsets everywherepublished at 11:51 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January 2015

Championship side Blackburn also beat Swansea, Leicester won at Tottenham and Crystal Palace beat Southampton. Meanwhile, top-flight clubs Liverpool and Sunderland were held to goalless draws by Championship sides Bolton and Fulham respectively.

Bradford City goalkeeper Ben Williams: "I got my little boy on the pitch with me after the game and the fans were amazing, they didn't want to leave. Then Jose Mourinho came in to the dressing room and wished us well, congratulated us.

"It was a very surreal moment - in he walked and the celebrations just stopped. Everyone was silent and in amazement that this figure had waltzed in, with the aura he has. He was very respectful, very humble. That was the icing on the cake.

"It's just about settling in now, it was difficult to take it all in at the time. I was just thinking keep it respectable. We knew it would be a difficult task, but we pulled a goal back before half-time, and we just stuck to the game plan.

"The look on everyone's faces in the dressing room was fantastic, it's something I'll never forget."

Manchester City had returned from a five-day warm-weather training trip to Abu Dhabi on Friday evening prior to their exit on Saturday afternoon to Middlesbrough.

But City boss Manuel Pellegrini refused to blame the trip for his side's exit.

"It is very easy to say it is about Abu Dhabi," said Pellegrini. "I don't think that is the reason.

"Before they scored we played very well. After that I think Middlesbrough deserved to continue in the cup."
