And I can't let the opportunity pass without promoting my very own feature on transfer deadline day. I've been chatting to the agents involved about how they get their clients the best deals, and there's some interesting stuff in there. Go and have a gander.

Let me take this opportunity to shamelessly plug BBC Sport's transfer deadline day coverage. We'll be right across everything on TV, radio, online and via social media. Our live text commentary kicks us off at 07:00 GMT and we're manned until the early hours of Tuesday morning. The very early hours. So, stick with us tomorrow - the boss won't mind, he'll be following it on his computer too.

"Southampton have been dominant but they will be disappointed not to be ahead. Their possession has not been finished off with enough accurate efforts at goal."

There's only one team in it, though...

It's not been a humdinger, has it?

    Jonathan Pearce
BBC Match of the Day commentator

"Southampton's Under-21 side beat West Ham's U21s earlier this week. Of that team, seven of them have played first-team football."

  7. League One updatepublished at 16:43 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2015

Bristol City almost make it 2-0 as Kieran Agard is inches away from connecting with Joe Bryan's cross. Under 10 minutes to go in that one.

  8. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 16:43 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2015

Southampton appeal for a penalty when Jose Fonte, still up from a corner, fizzes a shot into the box but it hits a Swansea defender. Nothing doing in the referee's eyes. Moments later, Neil Taylor is booked for a foul on tricky winger Eljero Elia.

Stephen, Birmingham: Now who was it that said this would be a humdinger..? (see 83 mins of Arsenal v Aston Villa)

David Ljunggren: They should rename these sides 'Zzzzwansea' and 'Zzzzzouthampton'.

  10. Postpublished at 16:41 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2015

It's just been brought to my attention that there have been just six goals scored in the five Premier League meetings between Southampton and Swansea City. Why was I thinking it'd be a barnstormer?

  11. Postpublished at 16:39 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2015

Nathaniel Clyne is such a threat down that right-hand side, this time the galloping full-back gets in behind and squares for Dusan Tadic but, once again, there's no way through the Swansea defence as a big toe nicks it off the forward's boots.

  12. Text us on 81111published at 16:35 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2015

John, Guildford: Yes, transfer deadline day is a lot like Christmas Day (see 17 mins) - or would be if your Christmas present doesn't usually turn up until nearly midnight, and when it does it's something you neither want nor need, but cost three times as much as it should have done.

"Southampton have had huge amounts of possession but I just wish they would make better use of it. Just watching the reaction of their players as a move broke down a few moments ago, when something goes a little bit wrong they are not slow to tell one another are they?"

  14. Postpublished at 16:34 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2015

It's just not running for Southampton at the moment - they get in behind again but Ryan Bertrand's low centre evades everyone.

  15. Postpublished at 16:32 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2015

Southampton have found a good one in Eljero Elia. The Dutch winger plays a beautiful ball in behind the Swans defence but Dusan Tadic slices his effort and the chance goes begging.

  16. Postpublished at 16:29 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2015

Another good move down the Southampton left ends with James Ward-Prowse putting in a cross which Graziano Pelle drags wide under pressure from a defender.

  17. Postpublished at 16:28 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2015

Ryan Bertrand or Roberto Carlos? As this touch map illustrates, left-back Bertrand is spending more time in the opposition's half than his own.

  18. Postpublished at 16:27 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2015

Another spell of sustained pressure from Southampton and a corner is headed clear. The Saints are getting plenty of joy down the flanks as their full-backs push on.

That's just won text of the day, Mike.

  20. Text us on 81111published at 16:25 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2015

Mike McCandless: Swans' last win at Southampton (see 15:50) - My grandfather Billy McCandless was manager at the time! Just spoke to my dad (also Billy, 87), he was there and remembers the victory well. He has a good feeling for today!

Swansea are winless in their last 10 visits to Southampton. Their last win (4-1) came 62 years ago in the old Second Division.
