Darren Fletcher captains West Brom on his debut for the club today - has anyone else done that?

Joe Walkley: I'm pretty sure Sol Campbell was when he joined Newcastle?

Royston Dooley: Reda Johnson became captain on his debut for Coventry City, replacing (badly) Carl Baker.

Andy Horrill: Kevin Nolan at West Ham. Debuted as skipper.

Burnley go close to making it 3-0 when Kieran Trippier flies down the right but no-one can get a clean connection on his cross. The Clarets are exposing a few flaws in the Baggies team this afternoon.

Discussing the title race in the Premier League, with Chelsea now seven points clear of Manchester City at the moment.

BBC Sport pundit John Hartson: "There is a softness about Manchester City at the moment. They are missing people at the Cup of Nations but they still have millions of pounds of talent available. They played ever so well at Chelsea and you think they are back and then they have a result like they did drawing 1-1 against Hull on Saturday. Chelsea had no Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa at Villa but still got the job done, winning 2-1 - there is the toughness that City do not have."

BBC Sport commentator Simon Brotherton: "Manchester City did not get out of second gear, it was a very stodgy performance against Hull. Man City are playing well below par at the moment - and if you are going to win the league you need to be winning matches against Hull. They do not have much room for an off day now."

Football writer Amy Lawrence: "There is a red herring element about people saying City are not the same when Yaya Toure is not playing. If you look at stats about players chipping in with goals from midfield - Nasri and Navas have not scored in the league this season."

It's just not happening for West Brom at the moment as Callum McManaman gets the run on his marker but his cross is easily headed clear. TP's going to have to get the hairdryer out at half-time.

David Meacock: Burnley must do nothing all week in training but head balls at goal. Top stuff!

Ash Williams: Burnley gotta make their home form count in the second half of the season. I think they'll stay up.

Chris Parker: Like the assumption that Tony Pulis just turns up and WBA are safe. With their end-of-the-season run-in they're far from it.

Dan, Bristol: When Edgar Davids joined Barnet as their player-manager, he named himself captain in his first game!

Greg Hayden: Kolo Toure became Man City captain when he joined replacing Richard Dunne, captain on his debut, won 2-0 away at Blackburn.

    MOTD2 Extra

Discussing the battle for a Premier League top four place to qualify for the Champions League.

BBC Sport pundit John Hartson: "There are more teams challenging for the top four than ever before. You have got Southampton, Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool. Normally, you would think Arsenal are stick-ons but not this season."

BBC Sport commentator Simon Brotherton: "I saw Liverpool last week when they beat West Ham. When Daniel Sturridge came on he gave them that focal point. If he can get into his stride then they can get into that battle as well."

Football writer Amy Lawrence: "People were doubting Arsenal this time last year when they got beaten by Everton but they found a way."

Very simple, but very effective from Burnley. They double their lead when a Kieran Trippier dummy sends George Boyd free down the right and the forward puts in the perfect cross for Danny Ings to head home from close range. The Clarets are on the money today.

This morning we want to know when you've been involved in a relegation battle with your team. Did you score the goal that kept your team up? Or concede one that saw them go down? Did you avoid the drop? Or was it the Great Escape?

Burns: Scored the only hat-trick of my career keeping Catz College up in a 4-3 battle in the Cambridge University First Division! First was a scuff, second deflected over the keeper and third so offside that their team stopped. Captain branded it the worse hat-trick in the history of the game. We went down the next season.

Jamie Clark: Last day of the season, needing a win to say up, Clark scores from a Pat Suraci corner followed by a Suraci penalty. Suraci promised a trip to the swimming pool if we won, still waiting eight years later…

West Brom are keeping the ball well now, trying to draw Burnley's defence out as they look to put Saido Berahino in on goal. Since Burnley went ahead, the momentum has really shifted.

Former West Brom midfielder Richard Sneekes
BBC Radio West Midlands at Turf Moor

"Already there have been more passes into feet up front for West Brom. Stephane Sessegnon has come in from the wing and is now playing in between the midfield and defence, trying to link up with Saido Berahino more. Whenever I used to play here at Turf Moor it was always feisty. It's a hard place to come and get a result."

Discussing Tottenham striker Harry Kane after his two goals in the 2-1 win against Arsenal yesterday.

BBC Sport pundit John Hartson: "He's got the lot. In terms of physicality, he bullied John Terry and Gary Cahill in a game against Chelsea recently. He's not the quickest but he is a strong runner. What impressed me most is he played with such maturity for a 21-year-old."

BBC Sport commentator Simon Brotherton: "He's got that confidence. He backs himself. He is giving defenders something else to think about. At present, he embodies what Tottenham are all about in his relentless hunger for the ball."

Football writer Amy Lawrence: "Tottenham's team was the youngest Premier League starting XI this season and yet the way they kept playing with the same level of intensity throughout, despite going behind, was fantastic."
