Right we've got through to Leicester and... drum roll...

They have no announcement to make at the moment. Sorry. I was hoping to bring you something more conclusive than that.

Let me assure you we're putting in plenty of calls to try and firm up this rumour that Nigel Pearson has been sacked by Leicester City. Whether the story is true or false, I suspect the Leicester press officer won't be watching Top Gear tonight.

See what I did there? A seamless plug.

I've just done a quick search to see if Nigel Pearson ever scored a screamer. The best the internet came up with was a four-yard tap-in against Coventry in 1991. I bet even Nigel has forgotten about that one.

After Cheikhou Kouyate scored a cracking goal to put West Ham ahead against Manchester United, we've been asking: What's the best goal you've seen scored by a centre-half?

    Phil JagielkaImage source, Getty Images

Tom, Liverpool: Phil Jagielka's ludicrous thunderbolt equaliser for Everton earlier this season against Liverpool. Dying minutes of the game at the Kop end and one of the greatest ever Merseyside derby goals.

Joe, High Wycombe: Best goal by a centre-half has to be Gary Cahill's bicycle kick for Aston Villa in the Birmingham derby back in 2006!

Pete, London: Another West Ham centre-back, Anton Ferdinand's wonder volley from the edge of the area in the 2005-06 season.

If the Nigel Pearson rumour is true, he would be the fifth Premier League manager in 43 days to be sacked. Silly season.

  11. Leicester going down?published at 19:16 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2015

BBC Sport's Robbie Savage assessed Leicester's chances of surviving the drop in his column this week - and it didn't make good reading for Foxes fans. In short, he's predicting relegation.

"The Foxes make too many mistakes at the back and they are not good enough in that department," wrote Savage. "Leicester manager Nigel Pearson brought in Robert Huth from Stoke on deadline day to try to change that but Huth has played only three minutes of Premier League football this season.

"Huth is the kind of character they need but, as I found out when I went to Derby as captain, when you join a struggling team in January, it is very hard to make an impact no matter how good you are or how much of a leader you are.

"I think they are still a couple of players short defensively."

If Leicester were to change managers, the new man has a tricky job on his hands. They are bottom of the league, four points adrift of safety and their next league game is away at Arsenal. After that? Everton away. Then Manchester City away...

Asked why he man-handled Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur yesterday, Nigel Pearson said: "Because he said something to me. I don't have to reveal anything do I? I'm more than capable of looking after myself.

"There's no problem with the player. He's a good player and a likeable lad."
