I love it. Or something.

Andrew Lascelles: It makes me laugh. Wayne Rooney dived to win a penalty but the England manager says he did not dive. Stop kidding the public
Richard Finch: What example is that for youngsters? Roy Hodgson defending Rooney's dive to get a penalty. He made no attempt to get the ball.
Mark Tomlinson: It was a clear dive! Rooney should have been booked! Hodgson refusing to acknowledge that says everything you need to know!
Manager reaction
Preston 1-3 Man Utd
Preston boss Simon Grayson, speaking to beIn Sport: "The first one he [Wayne Rooney] is close to interfering with our goalkeeper. Sometimes you get them and sometimes you don't. Even the second we felt there was slight nudge by Fellaini on Tom Clarke but there are fine lines between winning football matches and not. Regardless of the scoreline we are very proud of what we have done.
"This is a big club, the infrastructure is in place. We are doing well in the league and we will draw from the experiences tonight."

Jordan in Birmingham: No contact there. If that was Ronaldo, Suarez or another foreigner, everyone would've been on his back.
Josh in Bristol: Penalty discussion with my dad, he thinks it was (as a Liverpool fan). How is football coming to this when a penalty is given with no contact!
Mark Burgess: Phil Dowd proves conclusively that he is the worse referee in the Premier by some way. The first United goal was blatant offside and the third was no contact and the England captain disgraces the position by diving. Unlucky Preston but every thing has conspired against you.

Quarter-finals draw
If you missed the FA Cup quarter-final draw, holders Arsenal will travel to Manchester United.
The Gunners, who beat Hull City in last year's final, defeated Middlesbrough in the fifth round.
Liverpool host Blackburn, League One survivors Bradford City face Reading while West Midlands rivals Aston Villa and West Brom will meet at Villa Park.

Preston manager Simon Grayson calls the decisions that went against his side 'the fine margins' that can settle a game. But he has no sour grapes, he's proud of his side and is very much focussing on promotion from League One.

England manager Roy Hodgson, speaking on BBC One: "I don't think it's a dive from Wayne Rooney for the penalty I think he's taking evasive action."
Man of the match vote
Wayne Rooney was your pick for man of the match this evening with 46.4% of the vote, with Preston's Kevin Davies finishing in second.
Manager reaction
Preston 1-3 Man Utd
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal: "I was reasonably satisfied. We didn't give anything away. The fights between Kevin Davies and the defenders was difficult but we didn't give anything away. The Preston goal was a little bit unlucky, it was deviated.
"But then we showed an unbelievable team spirit. We changed the shape and that was the solution. We scored fantastic goals, a little bit lucky also I think. I liked the second goal a lot, we have trained that a lot.
"Marouane Fellaini has a body, he also scores goals. I played him in the position that he wants for the first time but I do not always have a position for him. The spirit was better."

"Scott Laird gave the supporters a moment the will savour. I think David De Gea should've saved it and it's maybe an own goal with a touch of Antonio Valencia. Preston had a good spell after that and Joe Garner had a good chance, but he just couldn't generate enough power with a header. That was their moment, and United took control after that."

"It's tough to criticise David De Gea who has won so many games for United this season The changes made the difference for United. It created space for them. For the penalty, Wayne Rooney had to get out the way. For me it's a penalty and a reckless challenge."

Preston 1-3 Man Utd
England manager Roy Hodgson, speaking on BBC One: "The substitutions and change in style with Marouane Fellaini up front alongside Wayne Rooney helped Manchester United. When the equalising goal goes in as the home side a little bit of air goes out of your balloon. Tonight there were two winners - Manchester United win and go through. But Preston are winners with their performance and effort."
Manager reaction
Preston 1-3 Man Utd
Preston boss Simon Grayson: "Our players thought Wayne Rooney was in the way for their first goal but we can see that he wasn't. The players can be very proud, we gave them a good game.
"We looked like we were comfortable but when they went 4-4-2 they exposed us down the sides. They have class. The players can wake up in the morning and be proud of what they've done.
"They've not let the game pass them by and we hope to use this as motivation for the rest of the salon. Our sole aim for the season was promotion."

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini: "We knew it would be very hard but we win today and that's the most important. We changed the game, we know the quality of Ashley Young, he can cross and it was an important substitution.

Sandipan in London: Against Burnley and now against Preston, the moment we switched to 4-4-2 with two wide players, our whole outlook changed. We started creating chances, breaking down the opposition down, and became menacing, organised and purposeful in attack. What a turnaround now. All we need is Louis van Gaal to realise this (happened twice now) and stick with this set up and formation! No more arguments, this is it! Ander Herrera blossoms in the middle alongside Daley Blind too.

GOAL
Preston 1-3 Man Utd - Wayne Rooney (Pen)
Wayne Rooney has a goal in 2015 - it's his first of the year and he buries it. Right into the roof of the net.
That settles it. United will face Arsenal in the quarter-finals.

Preston 1-2 Man Utd
There are plenty mocking Manchester United fans for their exuberant celebrations at 'only Preston' but don't forget the FA Cup is their only chance of a trophy this season. It matters.
Preston have the prize of promotion to go for too but they've not given up on this one, substitute Kyel Reid wide from the edge of the box. Good strike.

We are 13 minutes away from a Manchester United v Arsenal quarter-final. Or a famous Preston result.
Marouane Fellaini goes close to a third, bouncing out of a tackle to get a shot away but it's well blocked on the six-yard line.
Can Preston find one more chance?
SUBSTITUTION
Preston 1-2 Man Utd
Preston boss Simon Grayson makes three changes all at once. On come Callum Robinson. Scott Wiseman and Kyel Reid. Fresh legs, but Preston need a miraculous response from here. United a different team since Ashley Young's introduction. There's a sentence I didn't expect to write this season.

GOAL
Preston 1-2 Man Utd - Marouane Fellaini
That's burst the Deepdale balloon. United lead after good play from Antonio Valencia on the right, his cross is met by Marouane Fellaini. A powerful header parried back out by Thorsten Stuckmann and the Belgian is able to toe-poke the rebound into the roof of the net. Predatory.

"Preston are trying to claim offside, but I don't think it is. The changes have helped with the width that Ashley Young has given them - they look a much better side now."
GOAL
Preston 1-1 Man Utd - Ander Herrera
United level! They've looked a much better side since Ashley Young came on, and he makes the goal by finding Ander Herrera in the area. Herrera squeezes a shot off, Wayne Rooney is offside and standing right in front of Preston keeper Thorsten Stuckmann.
Great awareness from Rooney to stand still and let the ball go past him without a touch, and the shot goes in off the base of the post. Was he interfering with play though? Stuckmann thinks so but the goal stands.

It's League One 5-2 Man Utd this season by my reckoning. Though United are yet to face third-tier opponents at Old Trafford. They are 35 minutes away from FA Cup elimination, but could still force an equaliser yet.
They have to have a shot on target first though...

England manager Roy Hodgson on Wayne Rooney on BBC One:
"I don't think it matters where Wayne Rooney plays to me. I have great respect for club coaches, they have to use players where they think best. As long as he is playing well and showing desire. I know if we want him to move up front, like he has done tonight, he can do it like that.
"At the moment I would like to say he has been a key figure at centre forward for England, it would take a lot for me to think along those lines of playing him in midfield, it would be a lot of responsibility for a 19-year old to replace a 100-cap man."

United move it nicely out to Angel Di Maria, three men in the middle - and he shanks it out for a goal kick. That is rubbish.

Nothing too intricate about Preston's line of questioning, a huge thump down the middle, Joe Garner and Kevin Davies go for the header and United have to hack it out for a throw. Long balls have never been so in vogue.

There's been a clamour from some United fans to get Ander Herrera into this team and he shows a glimpse of why with a fine slide-rule pass down the outside to send Antonio Valencia away. His cross sees Marouane Fellaini and Wayne Rooney attack the ball at the far post - but they can't get an effort away.
The ball eventually comes through to Angel Di Maria but his pass isn't gathered in by Radamel Falcao.

We mentioned earlier that Preston must make the most of their set-pieces and they do this time, Paul Gallagher landing a free-kick on the money from wide on the left, Joe Garner gets there first but heads over the top. Good chance for the League One side.

Aessof: What does anyone see in Fellaini as a footballer? He offers very limited options I feel. And playing him up front too?
Chris Hall: Fellaini's ball control is lamentable.
Phil Johnson: United need midfielders who can create chances for the forwards. Rooney and Falcao can't pass to themselves.

Clumsy from Kevin Davies as he clatters into Antonio Valencia - but Preston's work rate has been exemplary so far. Davies and Joe Garner are harrying the United backline, the midfield are tracking their men and up front Wayne Rooney and Radamel Falcao have been kept quiet.

Backpass of the season! Admittedly that's a niche award, but a Preston midfielder turns and rifles a 50-yard ball back to Thorsten Stuckmann in the Preston net. It's neck high, not an easy one to deal with, but the German chests it down and volleys away upfield.

Manchester United's starting XI tonight cost £247.9m in transfer and loan fees, with a further £54m on the bench. That's about £300m more than Preston paid to assemble their squad, who have just emerged to warm-up to loud cheers.
The other things separating the two sides are 44 league places and the 43 years since they last met, but none of that seems to bother increasingly famous Preston fan Roop Singh (see 18:53 GMT), who has just been up to the Deepdale press box.

David Beckham spent just one month on loan at Preston after arriving from Manchester United at the end of February 1995 but the scrawny and quiet 19-year-old made a big impression.
"Frail but confident," was how team-mate David Moyes described him.
He came off the bench to score direct from a corner against Doncaster on his debut and struck a peach of a free-kick in a 3-2 win over Fulham on his first start - the core skills that underpinned his career were clearly already in evidence.
Beckham, with North End paying a portion of his wage and, apparently, stumping up the young midfielder's petrol money, played five games in total before Sir Alex Ferguson decided that a boy had become a man and recalled him to Old Trafford.
PNE missed out on promotion that year - a familiar story of play-off defeat - but the following season Beckham was in the stands at Leyton Orient, sat next to his father Ted, to see his old team-mates celebrate the 2-0 win that ensured they would be going up.
By that time Beckham had become a first-team regular at United and was a month away from winning the FA Cup, defeating Liverpool 1-0 in a stinker of a final, but he never forgot where it all started for him.

Preston boss Simon Grayson will fancy his chances of masterminding an FA Cup upset tonight, given his previous experience of guiding a League One side to victory against Manchester United.
He was Leeds manager in 2010 when Jermaine Beckford's solitary goal was enough to secure a 1-0 win at Old Trafford.
"Every time I go to Leeds, people remind me about it," said Grayson. "It's a different football club, different personnel, but I'll draw from the experience and what a great feeling it was to win at Old Trafford that day.
"You don't get the opportunity to do that very often. I want to try to replicate that if possible. You have to have that belief that you can do it."
Grayson won't be able to call upon Beckford this time, with the striker out for Preston, who he joined in November, because of an ear infection.
Phil Neville Q&A
Preston v Man Utd (19:45 GMT)
Former Manchester United defender Phil Neville, who is part of the BBC Sport coverage team at Deepdale, has been answering your questions on Facebook. Here are a selection:
Jake Fursman: Do you think Man United should keep Falcao after his loan finishes?
PN: I think it's a big last couple of months for him. He needs to be performing and scoring goals to earn that move. He had a stuttering start because of injury but now he's on a good run and there's obviously a world class goalscorer there - you can see by his movement. He just needs to put goals in the net and show everyone the real Falcao
David Anthony: Do you think Olivier Giroud is now a world class striker? If not, why?
PN: I don't think he's world class but I do think he's a really good CF and there could be a really good partnership with Danny Welbeck. There's a natural balance between them both. For Giroud, you'd like to see him grab a game by the scruff of the neck, bully centre-backs and score more goals, but he is getting better.

Hometown heroes
Andrew Flintoff, Sir Tom Finney, R2D2 (Kenny Baker), Lawro and killer Kilbane, Helen Clitheroe, creator of Wallace & Gromit Nick Park - Preston has more than its fair share of famous sons and daughters.
But who is the most famous person - past or present - from your home town, city, village or hamlet? The more obscure, the better. Let's hear them.

Quarter-finals draw
The last eight of this season's FA Cup have won the famous trophy 50 times between them, with Reading the only remaining side yet to win it.
The Royals are priced at 40/1 to end that streak this year, with Arsenal installed as favourites at this stage.
Mattress madness
Preston v Man Utd (19:45 GMT)
Dedication. Madness. It's a fine line between the two sometimes.
Selling a kidney is one thing, plus for example the story of Preston fan Dan Bull from Penwortham.
The slightly unhinged individual dragged a mattress to Deepdale last week at 2.30am and waited in the cold for the final 2,000 tickets to go on sale.
I don't know whether to applaud or be appalled...

There were a few empty seats on view at some of the other FA Cup fifth-round ties over the weekend, but there is no chance of that being the case at Deepdale tonight.
One Preston supporter even flew over from South Africa offering to sell his kidney to get in - thankfully the Football Association stepped in to offer him a pair before he was able to offload any body parts.

Oliver Johnson: I make it a 3/7 chance of a guaranteed lower league team in the FA Cup semi-finals even assuming Manchester United win.

"It's a crisp clear winter's night in Preston, where fans are already gathering outside Deepdale, many pausing to take a picture of the famous 'Splash' statue of Sir Tom Finney outside the ground. Saturday marked one year since Sir Tom passed away at the age of 91 and North End boss Simon Grayson wants a performance tonight that would have made football's most famous plumber proud.
"This club has fantastic history and tradition," said Grayson. "It would be a fantastic way to mark what he did for this club with a good performance and hopefully a result for him."

"There's always a hero"
Preston v Man Utd (19:45 GMT)
"You've got to go into a game like this and enjoy it," said Preston boss Simon Grayson this week. "Our players may never get the chance to play against the likes of Radamel Falcao, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie again.
"The one thing you have to say to them before they go out is have no regrets.
"We know the task that's against us because of what they are and what they're capable of doing but we've got nothing to lose and they've got everything to lose.
"There's always one shock, there's always a hero, and hopefully it's going to be a Preston North End player."
