A big cheer from the away end as Radamel Falcao is replaced! Falcao stutters as he makes his way off, he can't believe it's his number being displayed. Maybe he needs contacts?

Ashley Young is on now, with Marouane Fellaini going up front. Hit the big man.

Adam in Edinburgh: Can we sack Louis van Gaal now? I don't even care if we win this, he is clueless!

Fraser in Greenock: Shaping up to be yet another lacklustre performance from United. Totally bereft any of their traditional flair and creativity. They look second best in almost every match I've watched - LVG I feel seriously overrated- how long is his contract?

Matt in Wrexham: Maybe Ryan Giggs can explain to Van Gaal what a winger is??

Angel Di Maria hits a serving shot from 30 yards but it's meat and drink for the giant Thorsten Stuckmann in the North End net. Interestingly, I wouldn't' like to cover his meat and drink bill for a month. Like keeping a shire horse.

Marouane Fellaini is close to a header but brilliant defending from Tom Clarke to flick it away.

BBC News School Reporters Indigo, Harry, Lilli, Jonny and Daniel from Walton le Dale Arts College and High School in Lancashire report from Deepdale: "Deepdale absolutely bouncing after the first goal of the game. The PNE fans are definitely wanting to win this game."

Angel Di Maria thinks he's been fouled and does a triple roll away from the tackle of John Welsh, an early 1990s Serie A effort. Waved to his feet.

Ashley Young is readying himself for action.

"Falcao just doesn't have the pace to get away from the Preston defence. Is he fit enough? He's trying to prove he should be here in the long term, but it's just not coming off for him."

It's League One 5-2 Man Utd this season by my reckoning. Though United are yet to face third-tier opponents at Old Trafford. They are 35 minutes away from FA Cup elimination, but could still force an equaliser yet.

They have to have a shot on target first though...

Ian Charris:, external Not sure where the United equaliser is going to come from. Time to show what you are made of multi millionaire fancy Dans.

Adam Wild:, external Sat alone in my living room, just caught myself shouting "he's done it, he's done it" at the top my voice!

Mark Tomlinson:, external At least United can now resort to lumping long balls into the box...... Oh hang on, that's what they have been doing!

Chance! It's almost two as Preston whip in a deep free-kick, Ander Herrera is monstered out of the way by Tom Clarke and he can't get a clean volley on it!

Get the old size nine on that, and it's 2-0. He was three yards out!

Two League One sides in the quarter finals? Believe it.

Preston North End fans do. It's a cracking atmosphere.

BBC Radio 5 live at Deepdale

"Preston have got their joy for starting the second half so well but for me David De Gea has to save that. A goalkeeper of his quality, with the season he's having, you really would expect him to save it. There's a long way to go in this half but it will suit Preston to sit back and protect this lead now."

A huge noise inside Deepdale now. This is the lead they all dreamed of, when your man was dragging a mattress across town to queue up for tickets, when your man was offering to sell a kidney - it was to see Scott Laird bag...

"The crowd have gone berserk. Manchester United have been punished here. I think David de Gea puts it into his own net in the end, unbelievable scenes. It has almost gone through De Gea's body. Great start for Preston in this half.

"Where are the personalities in this Man Utd team? Where are the characters? There has to be a reaction now."

    Preston

Wow! There is the early goal this game needed! Moments after Scott Laird was almost played in, he is and scores!

Laird runs on to Joe Garner's pass, hits it early, it takes a deflection off the toe of Antonio Valencia's boot and goes right through David De Gea.

De Gea has been the best player for United all season - but he made a hash of that. Should have saved it...

Preston make a bright start, Chris Humphrey away from a man on the wing, early cross and Joe Garner threatens to tee up Scott Laird on the overlap - but it's snuffed out.
