Today we're asking for your League Cup final memories. Be it a favourite goal, a result or a more personal memory.

Alex, Brighton: Best memory has to be the "Snarling" Cup Final 2007. Feisty game with Arsenal, and Didier Drogba announcing himself as the best striker in the world at the time.

James Jackson: Easy. Middlesbrough securing their first ever trophy in 2004. Great team, great manager and the start of our Uefa Cup runs!

Caroline: Leeds United winning against Arsenal 1968. Afterwards went to the theatre in London with a Leeds banner!

  2. Is the Europa League a hindrance?published at 14:34 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

    Europa League statistics

Chelsea should be fresher of the two sides, after Tottenham's Europa League exit at Fiorentina on Thursday night.

Boss Mauricio Pochettino opted to rest striker Harry Kane and midfielder Ryan Mason, but selected an otherwise strong line-up, despite a Wembley final just three days later.

Having said all that a BBC Sport study shows sides average 1.41 points in matches immediately following a European game - compared to 1.43 in their other league games in the same season - a miniscule difference.

    No excuses there then.

  3. Mixed fortunes for bothpublished at 14:30 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

A quick look at the form guide tells you very little.

Chelsea have won just twice in their last eight matches in all competitions - including a 1-1 draw at home relegation-threatened Burnley at the weekend.

While Tottenham have also won just twice in their last eight - with both sides drawing far too many.

    Extra time and penalties then?

Joshua King:, external Standing in the gods at Wembley watching Obafemi Martins score for Birmingham against Arsenal at the death was breathtaking.

Aaron Jonathan Wood:, external Way too young to remember but QPR in 1967 2-0 down at HT to WBA and QPR came back to win 3-2. We was a 3rd division team.

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois , externalon his Facebook page earlier today: "Matchday Capital One Cup Final (Wembley at 16:00) ChelseaFC - Tottenham. Today someone else man of the match. Let's go guys."

So could that mean Petr Cech will get the nod ahead of the big Belgian this afternoon?

  9. JP gets a soakingpublished at 14:15 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

It has not been the best start to the day for Match of the Day commentator Jonathan Pearce.

While speaking on MOTD2 Extra earlier he got a bit of a soaking from the Emirates sprinklers and, understandably did not look best pleased.

It is never nice to laugh at another person's misfortune but, we have to admit, the video is pretty amusing. Even Arsenal fans still reeling from the midweek Champions League defeat to Monaco should be able to raise a smile...

  10. Elsewhere on BBC Sportpublished at 14:14 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

There is plenty of other football going on today so why not get a bit of split-screen action going to make sure you don't miss any of it.

You can follow live text commentary of Arsenal v Everton in the Premier League here, while there is also a live text on the Championship East Anglia derby between Norwich and Ipswich.

  11. Postpublished at 14:11 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

The Blues get some welcome news pre kick-off though as Manchester City's 2-1 defeat at Liverpool filters through to them. Chelsea are now five points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a game in hand. It's theirs to lose now surely?

  12. Unlucky for somepublished at 14:09 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

That 2008 League Cup final didn't exactly prove lucky for either of today's teams.

Victors Tottenham are still waiting for another major trophy win, while defeat for Chelsea sparked a heart breaking season end that also saw finish runners-up in both the Premier League and Champions League.

Jose will hope lightening doesn't strike twice.

  13. Postpublished at 14:05 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

We will bring you live text commentary of every kick, spit and splutter as well as the best from the world of social media and the top pictures from the day.

    Remember this?

    Jonathan WoodgateImage source, AFP

Chelsea and Tottenham supporters certainly will and now, seven years on, there is a big sense of deja-vu.

Back in 2008, Spurs won their first major trophy for nine years as Jonathan Woodgate's extra-time goal earned them the League Cup at the expense of Chelsea.

They haven't won a trophy since - Chelsea have won six.

Chelsea v Spurs - League Cup Final

So the League Cup is a waste of time is it?

Tell that to the 90,000 fans soaking up at the atmosphere on Wembley Way.

Tell that to the players set to play at the home of English football.

Tell that to the managers looking to pick up the first bit of silverware of the season.

For everyone at Wembley Stadium today - this matters.
