"That was brilliant from Eden Hazard. He's not been having his best day but we saw a little bit of genius there (see 65 mins), very close indeed. It looks like a 4-5-1 from Chelsea, with the five midfielders very deep when Spurs are in possession. You do feel that Spurs would get such a lift with a goal but Chelsea are looking comfortable, and they're dangerous on the break."

Mauricio Pochettino looks a miserable man. His side are 2-0 down in a cup final, he is absolutely soaked and Chelsea look in the mood for more.

  3. Postpublished at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Chelsea are toying with Spurs now. Willian, Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard play a bit of keep ball on the left wing before the latter cuts inside and curls a sumptuous shot inches wide.

"Tottenham were unlucky with the deflection off Kyle Walker for Diego Costa's goal (see 56 mins) but Chelsea do seem to have had the calmer heads in attacking positions today. Spurs need to get Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane involved more - we've seen very little from them."

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Mousa Dembele replaces right winger Andros Townsend for Tottenham. He appears to be playing just behind Harry Kane with a narrower three behind them.

Tottenham fans might just be losing a little bit of that faith I was talking about (see 54 mins). This is a huge task for their side now.

Diego Costa hasn't scored since 17 January for Chelsea and, despite celebrating it as if it was his own, that probably won't be given to him either. I'm not sure Kyle Walker will want it mind.

The rain is pelting down at Wembley.

"It was a lovely ball into Diego Costa from Cesc Fabregas in a dangerous area, but Costa got lucky - he needed the deflection off Kyle Walker. But that is what good strikers do. They buy a ticket, and sometimes they win the prize. Is Costa going to be the new Didier Drogba, who turns up for the big occasions? Looks like that might be the case."

Another deflection and another Chelsea goal. Cesc Fabregas slips Diego Costa in on the inside left channel inside Spurs' penalty area and the Spain striker fires across goal and into the net, via a huge deflection off Kyle Walker. Has to go down as an own goal.

  9. Postpublished at 17:11 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Tottenham fans should keep the faith as they have history of coming from behind to beat Chelsea in the League Cup final. Remember 2008? 1-0 down before winning the trophy thanks to Jonathan Woodgate's extra-time winner. Dimitar Berbatov levelled for them back then on 70 minutes from the penalty spot.

"If I was Mauricio Pochettino I'd bring Nacer Chadli in as the number 10 and move Christian Eriksen out wide. That would give Kurt Zouma something to think about. Spurs looked a bit downtrodden towards the end of the first half, but they can't let Chelsea strangle the game and play on the break - we all know they've done it over the years. Spurs need to build up a head of steam."

Jose Mourinho appears to be enjoying himself as he squirts some water towards the television cameras. Always the joker...

  12. ACROBATIC EFFORTpublished at 17:07 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Looks like the Wembley suits are still enjoying their prawn sandwiches as the second-half start resumes with plenty of empty seats at Wembley. They almost miss a second Chelsea goal as Eden Hazard flashes a shot across goal before Cesc Fabregas's acrobatic overhead kick is kept out by Hugo Lloris.

This could be a big risk by Tottenham. Kyle Walker is clearly hampered by his knee injury but he continues.

Good start from Spurs as Nacer Chadli plays in Danny Rose but his low shot is easy for goalkeeper Petr Cech.

  14. KICK-OFFpublished at 17:02 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

Elsewhere today, there were significant results in the Premier League as Manchester City lost 2-1 to Liverpool - meaning Chelsea keep their five point lead at the top of the table with a game in hand.

Arsenal also kept up their push for a top four finish with a 2-0 win at home to Everton.

The teams are back out at Wembley and Kyle Walker remains on the pitch. He appears to still be limping though. Game on.

  15. The curse of Torres?published at 16:57 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2015

The Sun on Sunday, external believes it has solved Chelsea striker Diego Costa's recent goal drought - he is living in the "cursed" former home of £50m Blues "flop" Fernando Torres.

A Chelsea spokesman said Costa, who hasn't scored since 17 January, did not feel jinxed by the house.

"If you're a Spurs fan your heart sinks just now. So much of the play has been with Spurs, they've been so brave to play at a high tempo, but Chelsea's game plan has been so obvious. Deny Christian Eriksen space, and get the ball into the box on set-pieces. It's a big job now for Mauricio Pochettino."

Uzair Amanat: Park the bus. Easy win for Chelsea if they follow the game plan.

Matt Cartwright: Spurs don't deserve to be one down at half-time but we've come back so many times this season to win games.

    Stats

If you are a Tottenham fan, you will consider yourselves very unfortunate to be behind. Spurs have had more shots and more possession but it is Chelsea with the advantage that matters.

John Terry gives Chelsea the lead. He's still comfortably England's best central defender. #justsaying

"The plan by Jose Mourinho is working. Chelsea have been second best for most of this game but with players like John Terry, Kurt Zouma and Branislav Ivanovic in the box, they cause mayhem at set-pieces. Terry can finish with both feet, and he showed it again there. This is what Chelsea have played for."
