Feroze Hussain:, external Chelsea midfield is non existent. Southampton just waltz through to the Chelsea box.

Richard Parfitt:, external I'm so glad we sold the outstanding left-back in the league to Southampton so that we could play Azpilicueta out of position instead.

Charlie Mclaren:, external Isn't it time that Chelsea realised when you get a reputation for diving you get less penalties given to your team.

A deep cross by Cesar Azpilicueta flies over the head of Diego Costa who is unmarked inside the Southampton penalty area. Costa stares at Azpilicueta. If looks could kill...

"Degree of doubt as to whether Matic fouled Mane, but I suspect Ivanovic may well have contributed to the decision."

    David Pleat
Former Tottenham manager on BBC Radio 5 live:

"A refreshing performance from Southampton. They are playing bright and breezy. It's as if they are playing with real freedom. Particularly impressive has been Dusan Tadic on the left-hand side, and Sadio Mane."

  5. GREAT SAVE!published at 14:06 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Incredible. Thibaut Courtois is the busiest man on the pitch as produces another flying save to keep out Sadio Mane. Jose Mourinho looks concerned. He is a man with a lot on his mind.

You can't take your eyes off this.

Sadio Mane is booked for a foul on Branislav Ivanovic before Diego Costa goes close with another header. Southampton respond with Dusan Tadic forcing a fine save with a powerful low shot. Moments later another Saints attack and it's pin-ball inside the Chelsea area. The hosts just about manage to clear.

Neal Collins:, external Penalty against. No penalty for. Jose Mourinho won't be happy.

Branislav Ivanovic went down in the Saints area shortly after Southampton's equaliser under pressure from Tadic but the referee was not interested.

Another Southampton attack. Shane Long feeds Dusan Tadic just outside the Chelsea box but the Southampton player's shot is blocked.

Chelsea have a penalty appeal of their own when Branislav Ivanovic goes down under a challenge from Dusan Tadic. Nothing given.

Jordan Mundy-Gill:, external Gary Cahill and John Terry against Sadio Mane is a recipe for disaster, the pitch is made of treacle!

Cameron Laws:, external Such a good player but why does Ivanovic feel the need to dive so often? He's supposed to be a tough defender.

Southampton are really going for this. Sadio Mane and Shane Long are a real handful. Chelsea are rattled.

Chelsea's defence is suffering a Champions League hangover. Shane Long is clean through and lifts the ball over Thibaut Courtois but his effort misses and the Southampton man is flagged offside. Nonetheless, the leaders have been rocked by that equaliser.

Conor McMeekin:, external Oh so penalties can be given in Chelsea games, I was beginning to wonder after all the stonewalls we've had waved away.

"It's not too big a surprise as Southampton look pacy going forward. Sadio Mane's pace took him into the box there. Mr Dean, the referee, was a fair from it but he pointed to the spot. It's 1-1 and Southampton are right back in the game."

Sadio Mane is brought down by Nemanja Matic. The referee points to the spot. Replays show that Matic did get some of the ball, more difficult to tell is whether he fouled the player first.

This is shaping up to be a cracking game already. No sign of Southampton parking the bus.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 13:46 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

Great response from Southampton. Dusan Tadic's pull-back allows Sadio Mane a clear chance but Thibaut Courtois produces a one-handed save to keep it out. Tadic pounces on the rebound and curls his effort narrowly wide.

Perfect start for Chelsea. Perfect response after their midweek European demise. Diego Costa starts and finishes a fine move which sees Branislav Ivanovic deliver a deep cross for the striker to head home from six-yards. Southampton's defence were guilty of ball-watching.

  20. Postpublished at 13:40 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2015

First sign of danger from Southampton as Shane Long looks to get clear of Gary Cahill. He can't. It's a good tackle by the Chelsea defender and it stops a clear run at goal.
